I miss all three of them.

There's no doubt that he probably would have had a fine career in dramatic films.

I’m sure John Hughes would have directed many of them. Hughes has said that a lot of why he retired from directing movies was because of Candy being his favorite actor and how much his death affected him.

My mom was in middle school when he died. According to her, when his death was heard on the news everybody in her class was crying even the teacher. I couldn't imagine that, but I wouldn't believe that it wouldn't happen either.

I thought John also showed a lot of range in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles as well.

Both Siskel and Ebert agreed with that in their review of the film. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaGWlZp_Zb1kndU

There's no doubt that John would have tackled more dramatic roles had he lived longer.

I think he just basically played himself. All stories about him are about what a nice guy he was.

I actually didn't know until a few years back that John Candy was dead. I was born in 1992 so I haven't seen much of his work, but I wondered to myself why he hadn't been in anything lately, and I looked him up found out that he died.

His last few movies weren’t exactly good or popular. That didn’t exactly help.

Ebert is right. Only the Lonely is one of John Candy’s best performances and one of Chris Columbus’ best films as director. It may be a hard find but if you can watch it’s great! Those two guys made many better received films but it’s a hidden treasure indeed among their filmographies.

I know people whose favourite John Candy movie was Uncle Buck. Some of them probably don't think that Planes, Trains, and Automobiles wasn't that good of a move. For the record, I did like both movies, but Roger shouldn't say that everybody's favourite John Candy movie was Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, because not everyone thinks of the movies the same way he did.

John started at Second City in TORONTO, then joined the Chicago one. Ebert got it all wrong.
