Pure Hitchcock and my favorite Spielberg film. I still think JAWS is one of the finest horror films ever made and it has to be on my top 10 list of the greatest films ever made. The photography by Bill Butler has influenced my to visit coastal towns just to film boats ☠️ And lets not forget the fantastic characters (Chief Brody, Quint, Hooper) and the truly amazing score by John Williams. One thing looked over in this review is the contribution of the film editor Verna Fields (mother cutter) who pretty much created this film or so I read.

Verna Fields won an Oscar for Best Editing.

@@johnfitzpatrick3094 She sure did. It's on KZbin. The 70's was a very special time for American cinema.

Jason, thank you for showing us this Siskel & Ebert's Review of the movie, "Jaws". This is one of those rare times in motion picture history where a 'bubble gum' type story is made into an outstanding movie. Along with Darbobski and I think even rap artist, Ice Cube, "Jaws" happens to be my favorite motion picture of all time. Once again, thanks for this review. Peace out.

I think JAWS is a masterpiece and it would be in my top 10 greatest films ever made. I saw JAWS on IMAX in 2022 🦈 absolutely amazing 😍

Jaws is the A+ movie with a B movie plot. Still my favorite of all time.

Ah yes, the first summer blockbuster. And it was made from the heart.

1970's American cinema was the golden era. Coppola, Scorsese, De Palma, Spielberg, Millius and Carpenter are the film makers I respect the most.

@@JasonBagherian What do you think of the 80's?
@JasonBagherian4 жыл бұрын
@@patrickshields5251 80's cinema was looked down on but today I feel many 80's films were really as good as the 70's. We did get far more blockbusters in the 80's but the film makers I like were still making quality films in the 1980's and even the 1990's. It's post millennial films I don't really like and this obsession with super heroes. I forgot William Friedkin on my original comment too who made the scariest horror film ever as well as Sorcerer. I'm hoping with this scamdemic that Hollywood might go back to making lower budget films again.

I saw this late summer early fall as kid in 1975. I think me my friend were last people in usa to see it. Because the movie was blockbuster summer 75. Everybody had seen it. Now I watch it once every summer on my blu ray. Great film.

My reviews: out of 5 1 " Jaws " 5 out of 5 👍

How should they have known not to make a Jaws 2, 3 and 4 (lousy movies)? Herman Melville didn't write a Moby Dick 2, 3. and 4.

Novel is great, movie goes totally off the rails at the end. Exploding shark? WTF? Spielberg made such schlock.
@JasonBagherian3 жыл бұрын
I've read the novel and I preferred the film. It was Scorsese who told Spielberg to blow up the shark, visually it works better than drowning the beast.
@johnfitzpatrick30943 жыл бұрын
@@JasonBagherian I heard it was Brian De Palma who suggested blowing up the shark. He said that the movie needed a snap ending.

Oroborus, your statement is full of schlock. That's Michael Bay you're talking about.
