I got to meet with her this April after a concert. She is as she appears, gracious and easy to talk with, and interested in who you are. She is tall and trim and with great presence. She left me feeling shriven. Not sure I'll get over the experience.

Actually, Sissel has stated in a number of interviews that when she is performing a song, that she is in a different world. She is no longer on stage, but "enters into and becomes a part of the song and of the experience." That is obvious by watching her (face, eyes, body) when she is singing !!

During the last several years, Sissel Kyrkjebø has been on my radar and carved out a large room in my heart. I adore her so. I am too old and poor to travel to Europe, but if she ever toured America I would travel to the nearest city, and give my life savings to be in the first row and at the meet-and-greet to embrace her. (Of course, my wife might have something to say about such a sacrifice on my part.) What a beautiful woman with the voice of an angel and a heart of pure gold. What a blessed man her second husband is!!!

Yes, precious few men would or could ever marry a woman like Sissel. I don't know what happened to her first husband, but the guy must have been insane to let her go. The same with Shania Twain's first husband. I rarely promote other artists on someone else's page, and I don't know if she has an official KZbin channel, as this one seems to be run by a Super-Fan, but here are 3 other ladies you might also love (all married, of course): Hayley Westenra of New Zealand; international super-star who's public career ended a few year ago. Katie Melua of the U.K. is another international super-star and her career is still going strong. But the best of all might be Alyona Yarushina, an indie, and largely unknown cover artist with originals yet to come. She hails from Moscow and is incredible! If she was from another European country or the USA, methinks she would be world-famous by now. If Alex Romanov objects to me promoting these 3 gorgeous woman here, then I will edit this comment and remove their names. Jon Lord recorded several versions of this song , all with beautiful ladies ! The original was on one of his solo albums when he was still in Deep Purple . The album was Pictured Within and featured Sam Brown singing this song . Sam also performed this song at The Albert Hall with members of Deep Purple at the 30th anniversary of Jon's Concerto For Group And Orchestra .

I am torn between this version and Sam Brown's.. This lady has an amazing voice.. And does such a beautiful, wonderful rendition of this bitter, sweet song. Then I listened to Sam Brown singing it just to check which I preferred .( Sam who I adore anyway, since my first encounter in 1988 - just has such a passionate voice, ) And wow... It is possible to have 2 perfect for different versions...(just plucks a different heart string be pending on which one you happen to be listening to)

Here is a TRULY beautiful and heart-rending song by Sissel. It is from the same time period (2010) as are many of her "cabaret style" songs that she started singing. This one is a VERY much different setting, style and "look". Singing it, however, she does convey the VERY same heart-rending emotion and soul-searing sadness as she does in some of the others. At some points in the song, she looks like she is ready to break into tears herself !! Then, I came across an article in a Norwegian magazine that stated that, after her divorce, she went with a man for about 2 years, who broke up with her around 2010. Maybe she IS reflecting upon her OWN personal pain here ?? I think that the elements of this performance EXCELLENTLY portray why Sissel is SO loved by her fans. It displays her simple, uncomplicated beauty that flows from within - it show-cases the clear, emotional, expressive, tender and warm qualities of her voice - and it reveals the almost child-like innocence, openness, purity and sincerity of her heart. As someone asked in a comment left on KZbin, "WHAT is there NOT to love" ?? 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
