Sissel - If You Go Away - The song is an adaptation of the 1959 Jacques Brel song, "Ne me quitte pas", with English lyrics by Rod McKuen. I have seen a video of Brel performing it, and his emotions are so intense that he is covered with sweat. His performance is rather "dark", and it is mentioned that the song is in the spirit of him debasing himself to the woman he loves, telling her, "I will do ANYTHING' if you stay - PLEASE STAY" !! Sissel sings the English lyrics with a much more upbeat and hopeful rendering. Both the singing and the video itself are all of the testimonial that is needed to attest to the fact that Sissel - like a fine wine, brandy or Champaign - becomes mellower, more precious and more refined as she matures. This ENTIRE "Reflections Series" is a fine tribute to her musical genius !! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰

My dear Sissel, I have read all of these comments and fear I cannot give you any original thought. These, your fans, have truly expressed my surprise and my Joy at having found you. Your voice, your choice of songs, your unique beauty Is a treasure to each of us. I don’t know why I am so late to the ball. How have I not heard of Sissel until now? I can just relish the Sight and sounds of this magical vocalist. When I was a child, over eighty years ago, I was blessed with a soprano voice with a measure of clarity. By no means in the category and of the quality as Sissel. But I found happiness and fun in singing for myself and occasionally, for others.. Due to the circumstances of my life I came to a place where I couldn’t sing for others or myself any more, My life was so different because of the lack of music in it. I began my search for the most beautiful voice I could find. I was looking for purity and clarity in this voice. For the learned Performance abilities so many lack. I thought I had found those qualities in a couple of popular singers. However, I was wrong. In fact, I have just now found the qualities I searched for upon hearing the Fabulous Sissel. and her amazing beauty..I feel the same sense of excitement and anticipation I have felt at discovering a brand new book by a favorite author. I have much to discover and Much to enjoy now that I see how prolific you have been. I had never heard anyone sing this heart wrenching song as good as Scott Walker - until today that is! Sissel voice tares into you and drags the tears from the listener's eyes. I love how, when you record these lovely old standards, such as this one and Gordon Jenkins' "Goodbye", to name just two, your versions are, at Very least, as beautiful as (and most times more beautiful than) the original or any recorded by any singer since. @@henryhorner3182 You must be somewhat new to Sissel's performances. I am Not, having been listening to her since she began singing professionally in '89... Long before she was "discovered" as the soloist in "Titanic". She has never, nor will she ever, sing what you refer to as "trash", although she has done beautiful cover versions of hits from modern pop singers and groups such as ABBA, Rod Stewart, Maryanne Faithful, Louis Armstrong, Andy Gibb, and many others that may surprise you. Her repertoire and catalog of performances is long and varied, from baroque and Mister Mozart to Debussy's gorgeous operatic arias to '30s and '40s jazz standards to contemporary '50s to the 2000s "pop". And every song or aria that she sings turns to pure gold, my opinion. But I have a strong feeling that if you knew anything at all about this wonderful woman and soprano, that I would not have had to write this reply. Too bad for you. I believe that a lot of research, and a lot of listening, is in order for you.

Whatever it is that makes Sizzle "the most beautiful voice in the world" is not evident in this kind of music. However, when she sings "O holy night", I agree that she absolutely is the best. Overall ... ... it is still a moot question.
