I KNEW she was on Homelander’s side this whole time! I love how both Firecracker and Sage were competing for Homelander’s favor, when for the first 5 episodes, Sage was his favorite. Then, episodes 6 and 7 he began to be fed up with Sage’s lobotomy and (seemingly) incompetence, and Firecracker became his favorite by giving him milk. But when her heart was having problems and she was being annoying, he pushed her away too. Only to realize in episode 8 that Sage was his ace the whole time, and that she stuck to their plan despite him blowing her off.

And this is where her backup plan comes along: she had another mole inside the bunker, filming the president in case he mentions his plan to assassinate Neumann... which happened. now, you could argue him mentioning that doesn't make sense, but thats beside the point. who know what other moles she had the whole time? what other backup plans? it all makes sense to me, this "all part of the plan" thing, to me, was really well done

also, in the tek knight party, many things went wrong. she didnt plan to get shot in the head, and not be able to talk to the richmen about her plan. which is why she brought Neumann along, a backup. but yeah, this is one thing that wasnt clear to me, the fact that they killed Tek Knight. How will she make a deal to use his prisons? Even the bugs they set up is explained by having the Shifter delete Hughie's files and any backups he might have.

Genius is often synonymous with some form of insanity, or what the average person would call insanity in the sense that anything subjective loses meaning when you admit that it doesnt matter. She literally knows everything to MMS struggles curing cancer. The biggest twist to me was that homelander fired her and live. A good twist is like something you see in a saw movie dropping subtle hints and such. The only hint she dropped is her notebook and let everything else play out

I feel her power is less intelligence and more luck because pretty much all of her plans relied on luck. She didnt plan Neumann's death, she made a plan that would only work if neumann died and would you look at that she died. Thats basically all of sages plan so it seems her powers is more luck than smarts

The tricky part is getting them to commit mistakes that are in-character. For Sister Sage, i guess it would be to not have key information that could derail her plan.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think the writers were smart enough with how they told her story to properly execute her character. There was a lot of smoke and mirrors, but notice how we never knew what her plan was, just that she would always say things are going exactly as she wanted. Even in that final scene she just pops up with the politician guy on the phone...but why and how? Everyone knows she's not a part of the 7 anymore so he wouldn't have called her to pledge his loyalty to Homelander and he wouldn't have taken her call either. Show don't tell, that's the key to good writing. Instead of having her saunter in and act like everything going to shit was exactly as she planned why not have the seeds planted throughout the show that prove things were always going as she planned? She didn't have a single scene in the entire episode besides that one, so why couldn't we get five minutes where we see her pulling off this final victory instead of her handing it to homelander on a silver platter? I mean Sage was literally upset and shocked that Homelander fired her despite the fact that she had to know he would the second he figured out A Train was the leak. You know what would've made that pay off? If she'd said something like "I told you I belonged better in the background- I knew you would fire me, and now that's exactly where I am again," when she pulled up on Homelander. Connecting the dots like that shows the audience that she really is as smart as you say. Even with A Train, she says he didn't leak anything she didn't want him to. Let's assume she didn't always know he was the leak and only figured it out around the time she let him know she knew and his ass was on notice- how did anything he leaked after that further her goals? You know she did mean that because it's exactly what a character like hers would say and do, but the problem is it doesn't actually make sense. Especially when we know that she actually wanted the Starlight assassination to fail and for Newman to be killed so that dude could be framed and Homelander could take over, even though nothing she did as far as we were shown caused any of that to happen. Show don't tell- those would be Sage's superpower scenes, when we see her using her intellect to solve the problem and out maneuver everyone, not just having her retroactively take credit for things over and over. It's like if they cut away from every fight scene and only showed the aftermath. As a writer I love characters like Sage but they are incredibly difficult to pull off if you don't do so intentionally.

The Boys did NOT intent to kill Neuman so had Butcher not gained any powers her plan would've literally gone to shit with Neuman on their side

And you can tell she is only getting started and aiming to see how much she can push her intellect. S4 was basically sage planning all the episodes But still s4 was very weak ( even if it was a setup for s5) Mm story went no where. Frenchie story was a mess Kimiko's was something. Butcher was angel vs devil ( but this didn't needed 8 seasons) Hughie was the punching bag of the series And Annie was just a mess . Idk why the writing was so weak this time when they already said they had content for 5 seasons and were not milking the story... The whole content could have been solidly wrapped up in 4 episodes...give or take

Dude having a plan go perfectly doesn’t mean literally every single detail works out…nobody can plan for that…Neuman is out of the picture…the how doesn’t matter. A plan is just a pathway to a goal…a smart person is someone who does just enough to keep the goal accessible no matter life throws at you because no one can literally predict every single thing. Sage’s plan was place Homelander in a position of authority in the country…which is what happened. She made that happen…she had what’s his face on the phone ready to go. For the first time in Homelander's life, someone stayed on his side not out of fear but because they actually wanted to, no matter what Homelander did to her she was there for him haha. I think Homelander has a crush. No but seriously, did you not read what I just said? This is the first person who doesn't fear Homelander (who has been on his side). I love the self awareness from homelander "I threw you up like garbage?" only for her to laugh and say "I told you, you could trust me". This is someone who could actually give Homelander genuine affection and love without fear.
