Those were the era of great funk/r&b music. Hearing the base and the drum makes it unquestionable that it was a Narada Michael Walden style .Very deep and tight base. Thanks for sharing it.

Kathie, Debbi, Joni and Kim. You paved the way for so many others. I only wish you weree still making real music today and showing these folks whom are masquerading themselves off as music makers exactly how it is done. BRING BACK SISTER SLEDGE

On this day in 1981 {April 11th} Sister Sledge performed "All American Girls" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... One month earlier on March 15th, 1981 "All American Girls" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #89, the following week it would peak at #79 {for 2 weeks} and it spent five weeks on the Top 100... And on March 22nd, 1981 it peaked at #3 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart.. Between 1974 and 1985 the Philadelphia sisters had nineteen records on the Hot Soul Singles chart, four made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "He's The Greatest Dancer" for one week in 1979 and "We Are Family" for one week in 1979... Besides "He's The Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family", their two other Top 10 records were the above "All American Girls" and "Got To Love Somebody" {#6 in 1979}... Sadly, sister Joni Sledge passed away at the young age of 60 on March 10th, 2017 {natural causes}... May she R.I.P.

I always love hearing and LOOKING at the lovely Sledge ladies. They definitely have it going on and still do.Saw their recent photos and their recent work and they don,t look any older and their sound still sounds fresh. They are a true example of how a female entertainer can still be sexy with out being half naked and all weaved out.Love them.

When I hear this track, it reminds me of you, Maya, and takes me back to 1987 right in Leicester Square, London. How many times have we met in Gloucester Road in that restaurant, in Covent Garden and in so many places around? How many times have we walked in Notting Hill and up to Clarincarde Gardens W2, where you used to live? Those were the days. Wish I'd never left to Morocco, and you to Greece that summer of 1987. Who knows? Maybe you'll read this one day...
