I have a sublimation printer and make labels that way. I have 40+ years of graphics experience and design my labels in the Adobe suite of applications. The down side to sublimation is it works best on 100% poly. The up side is it will never fade, even with pure bleach on it. And shirting weight poly makes a great label. You can use a powder on your sublimation print out that will allow it to be put on cotton, but it feels kinda sticky like a t-shirt transfer. Love those pins! I got the number pins from, I think, "Marilee" and use them. God bless.

Hi. Just found you! Enjoyed your video and loved your hallowe’en quilt! Your label was great and unique!! I am new at quilting, but my labels get put in the corner, triangular shape, and I just use the font on my machine. One baby quilt, I labeled with “Sugar and Spice and everything nice”…yup for a girl. Also when I bind my quilt, I stitch it on the back, bring it forward to the front, folding it just over the stitching line, stitch close to the edge (use matching thread in my bobbin to the back) and stitch. Not in the ditch, and I find I get a more satisfying result. Love the pin idea too!

I have been buying the freezer paper from Amazon that is 8 1/2 x 11 and then press the fabric to it. Trim the fabric to the 8 1/2 x 11 freezer paper (that it is now attached to). Works great!

Your label is adorable. I as well struggle with labels. I am making quilts this year that need labels. Dreading this. And I have an embroidery machine. I need to find a print/pattern I like enough to make it into a label. I don’t have that side of creativity. I can make patterns I see. That’s it. Can’t go outside the box.

As a long time Printer and Graphic Designer, I might be able to give you some helpful information on making labels for your quilts. For one thing, InkJet prints on freezer paper are handy, but they will fade in the wash or just exposed to UV lighting in a matter of short order. Use to be Silk Screen printing of color on textiles (fabrics) was the permanent solution. Now we have come a long way with Sublimation printing. I make labels and photo blocks using Sublimation. It is heat bonded, forms a gas, and makes your colors pop and last nearly forever!! Might look into that avenue. I use to do quilt labels for my clients when I had a printery years ago, and we printed on 'transfer sheets' photos, etc. Even for photo quilt blocks, those were subject to fading. Definitely encourage you and your readers to look into sublimation printing photo quilt blocks and labels. If you don't want to make the investment, there are lots of etsy businesses who offer the service. Loved your video. Thanks.

This is great information, thank you‼️ I’d like a sublimation printer. We’re looking into getting an Epson, Infinity series and found it we can get the sublimation ink for the reservoirs. Thanks again and thanks for watching my channel 😍❣️

@@sisterchicksquilting I have the Epson F170 it has an ecotank. You do know if you convert a pigment printer into a sublmation printer you can never use it for regular ink again, right, and you sometimes void your warranties. Epson has an inexpensive large format printer, which I plan to get next time. Its the Ecotank 15000, just don't use the pigment inks that come with and only put sublimation ink. I hear there are some great Inks out there that are not Epson inks that work just as well. Glad to help.

Last night I first heard the phrase sublimation printer! I would for sure just support an Etsy shop for my limited needs, but I am not sure I would have thought of it. Thank You!

Thanks for that information. I have been trying to work sublimation into my T-shirt making but I need to make some money to buy one. I’ve been praying my inkjet would die so I could use that as my excuse. Lol.

Hi Di. My quilt labels start with a 5x5 square.I rinse it out to remove sizing. Iron it dry. I use the ink jet printer to type out what I want label to say. All my quilts get named/titled,maker,any notes,and date. I than use purple school glue onto the paper,outer edges only, place the fabric square on it pressing firmly,place in printer and hit print. Heat set with iron. I would love to see how you got Frank on yours!
@sisterchicksquilting2 жыл бұрын
Purple school glue? In a glue stick? That’s a great idea 💡! I designed him using Canva a free online design software. It’s pretty easy to learn. Then put the fabric backed with freezer paper in the print tray and hit print. I do pull the freezer paper off and iron to set the ink. I think I’ll make a Tuesday video about the process. Thanks for watching then commenting😊‼️

I just made a label a few weeks ago, my first one. Instead of freezer paper, I used Heat n Bond lite. Cut the fabric 9x12, the Heat n Bond lite I cut to 8 8 3/4 x 11.5 , fused it to the fabric then cut to 8 1/2x11 and put into printer. I had to heat press the label with iron after printing.
@sisterchicksquilting2 жыл бұрын
Heat and Bond lite, wow😱 I’ve never heard of that. Was it stiff when you sewed it on? I think I forgot to say in the video that I pull the freezer paper off before I sew it on. I l love hearing different ideas, I will be better about making labels now that I have so many. Thank you Marla😊❣️

The pins are such a fantastic idea. I live in a ridiculously remote area. 3.4 hours one way, nothing in between to the nearest small Walmart, fast food joint (and not even the good one). If you could or thought about including links to Amazon that would be over the moon helpful. Also, if you had links to fabric sources, that would be magnificent. My favorite is Halloween 🎃 too. Recently found you and am addicted! Thank You 😊
@sisterchicksquilting Жыл бұрын
Sorry about your addiction, NOT! LOL :) I bought the alpha beads and earing backs at Michaels craft store and I bet Amazon has them too. Did you google either of those sources? I bet they would show up. My favorite online fabric source is Hancocks of Paducha, they have everything and great sales too. Thank you for watching my channel K :)

Very much appreciated! Thank you so much. 🤩😊🤩

Amazon does have the alphabet beads - about 12 for each numeral all packed in individual small plastic boxes which are then out into one larger box. They do come with the stuff people use for making bracelets but the price right - now here in April 2024 is a little under $7!
@sandybruce90927 ай бұрын
I’ll make sure to write me a note about the alphabet beads, etc. for when I go over to Walmart - yes, I do keep a hand written list on paper!
