Looking great! The poses you've chosen are much more interesting than the originals. And thanks for the casting demo. I've only ever tried casting once, and the results were poor. I'll have to practice it more before I get results like yours.

Thank you 🙏🏻 Casting in the resin is simple enough. As mentioned, the trick to using Blue Stuff to capture detail is to keep it as soft as possible - literally 2-3 minutes in boiling water to get it really soft/squidgy then apply to the piece.

Awesome stuff! Keep the good energy coming :D 38 pounds for those bases while the files are free? Those base topers cost 2€ max with supports on them which are always a waste of material sadly enough. But i think you've gotten mugged with that price. If you ever have spare cash, invest in a cheap 3d printer and make the stuff yourself. I know that the barrier of entry is high in all of the stuff you need, ipa, space, gloves etc. but once there, only consumables are needed to be be bought again.

Thank you 🙏🏻 I was looking at resin printers to buy (Anycubic photon mono 2) , but don’t really have space for one at the moment. As I mentioned, I wasn’t going to quibble over the price (cost in resin, time, energy, postage etc) as I’m going to be making molds of them to recast at my leisure. I’ve already got silicone on the shelf that needs using up. But the more I’m getting back into this the more I’m being drawn in to make space for a resin printer to go along side my current FDM👍😁

Genuinely amazing, thank you! My main draw for kitbashing has always been finding some way to duplicate parts there are only a few of, this might just pull me back into the hobby! How toxic is the resin when its squidging out the sides? I have a small upstairs flat and a cat, which is the main reason I haven't gotten into 3d printing 😬

Thank you 🙏🏻 My biggest bug bear with with recasting parts using putty was the time factor and quality aspects hence the experimentation with the resin. Good question about toxicity, honest answer is I have no idea. There is no information on the bottle at all about toxicity of it. In very small quantities I would assume it wouldn’t too bad certainly when the resin is only staying in liquid state for only a few minutes before being fully cured. Maybe a shallow tub to capture any over spill would be good to use, I have an old baking tray that I use for that purpose 👍

None that I’ve detected using it. There is a slight earthy smell to it, but that’s with me actually putting my nose to the open bottle and sniffing it to see if there was any kind of odour. Good luck with it, I hope it turns out well for you and inspires you to create some truly unit figures 👍please don’t forget to share them, I love seeing what other people come up with.
