No doubt about The Don being a full blown narcissistic egomaniac. Still, I believe that we all have narcissistic tendencies as part of our personality structure. Like with all personality traits, it’s kind of a spectrum. I was missing this aspect in your video. It came across a bit fingerpointy, without giving back the acknowledge that we all are narcs to some degree imho. I’m worried that without such acknowledgement of „the evil“ in oneself, we’re pushing stereotyping more and more forward, which will lead to more blaming, dividing and raging. Anyway, sry for the rambling. As always your video was quite entertaining and thought provoking. Also I really liked the editing on this one. So thanks man!

there’s a difference between having narcissistic personality traits and having NPD tho. it seems like the video was example after example of why trump is a narcissist/has npd vs has narcissistic traits. he laid out the reasoning for why with the childhood trauma and quotes from his mother. people have narcissistic traits but like he said in the beginning of the video althought narcissism is thrown around a lot in conversations today only 1% of people of people actually have npd. this video is explaining why trump is in that 1% not just another person w narcissistic traits
@joshuakuhn57413 жыл бұрын
As the guy above already explained pretty well, it’s not about people being generally self-centered or egoistic sometimes. Narcissism is more like a deeper rooted mental disfunction (or trauma) than a character trait or mood. The video is not very blaming in my opinion, as Sisyphus explains pretty well the childhood upbringing that caused this behavior.
@theoriginalrandomman3 жыл бұрын
I mean, he devotes a section of the video to handling the "universality" of narcissism as per the Melville quote. I'm not sure I totally get it myself, but it seems like the gist is that we all have an idealized self that we want to achieve, that we all want to earn (legitimate) praise. The difference between that and an actual narcissist is that the narcissist devotes themselves to maintaining the fiction that they've earned praise and status when they have not.
