😂 I got my boy at 10 months and he was a jumper and mouther! Took me about 2 months to correct the behaviour. Do it young when it’s easier. My guy learned quickly and is now a certified service dog and is amazing in public. Berners are the best! ❤

I just want to say all your videos have been super helpful. I just got a male Berner puppy, and he is 10 weeks old. I had a female Berner before but she passed 10 years ago. I really miss my girl, but excited to start making new memories with my new boy! Thanks again for these helpful videos! It’s been awhile since I had a puppy.

We have a 11-week old Bernese that I was trying to ignore/turn my back to the demand barking and its not really working. I will try your solution. Thank you!
@SitStaywithStacySlade4 жыл бұрын
I have found ignoring it doesn't work either. Make it known it's not okay, interrupt it/startle it and redirect, consistently. Let me know how it goes!

@@SitStaywithStacySlade Thanks again Stacy! I only had to do it twice and redirected to a sit. Now he just sits instead of demand barking :)

not sure you can still help us, but we have a 7 month old Bern. There are 8 people living in the house, and everyone is trying to train him. It's a little too much. When he's outside in the back yard, he always gets into the garden and lays down. I tell him "come", and he just looks at me. I've watched your videos on how to help puppies learn to stay by you, but he's 7 months old. What can we do to get him to come when we call?
@SitStaywithStacySlade2 жыл бұрын
I would quickly get him enrolled in puppy obedience (positive methods only) class so you can develop a training relationship with your dog. Always have treats on your and offer a reward for anything you ask. I would also fence off your gardens. For reference, I don't have any gardens in my back yard, only pots. :)

What treats do you use for training besides string cheese?
@SitStaywithStacySlade4 жыл бұрын
Jerky Treats, hot dogs, Fresh Pet Pure Vital nuggets :)

How long before its safe for them to jump off chairs and other furniture?

I always wait until I have their OFA hip and elbow clearances so I know their joints can handle it. Happy to help you learn how to get those health clearances.

SitStay with Stacy Slade That would be great, thank you. I don’t have a puppy yet, but I’ve been in contact with a few breeders. Hoping to have one by the end of the year or early next year.

@@SitStaywithStacySlade Hey Stacey! I had the same question as well actually. How do you get those clearances and at what age? Thanks for the informative videos!
