How to bathe your Bernese Mountain Dog! An easy way to wash your dog in 15 minutes!

I show which shampoos, bathtub, hose nozzle etc. I use to wash my Bernese Mountain Dogs effectively. I have washed hundred's of dogs so I have it down to a science! I train each dog to willingly get in the tub with treats and positive reinforcement. My dogs love the individual time and attention a bath and dry gives them with me. Hi Monique, Because I show my dogs we don't trim the leg feathers at all, so there is now specific way to trim them. If you need to thin out your dog's feathers then I would use thinning shears to thin out the hair a bit.

So helpful! I just also watched Frenzy playing in the Colombia River. So sweet! We are about to get a BMD puppy and will have standing pond water in one of the pastures for part of the year on our farm. What is the best way to go with drying them after playing in water? Do they need to be blown dry like when they are shampooed?

I personally only use the dryer after a bath because it will break their hair if it is dirty. I towel dry and then make sure they can dry in full in the house. If they stay wet too long you could have yeast issues.

Yes, both cold and warm work well. It is about getting the appropriate amount of shampoo in their coat down to the skin and rinsing it all out. But I generally only use cold water in the warm months. It is also imperative to get them 100% dry with a dog dryer.

omg thank you for this video. my boy is too big for the tub so i have to try to wash him in the standing shower and he hates when i brush him,do you have any recomendations for types of brushes or how to help him like being brushed?

Yes, use treats or smear peanut butter on a plate for him to work on while you brush him. An undercoat rake helps get the undercoat out. Make it fun and do it often!

Lol my baby took showers too, until me and him wouldn't fit lol. A small amount of ACV during shampoo and again during rinse has helped mine shed much much less.

Can you use a “human” blow dryer? Or is that not powerful enough? If not, where do you get a large dual motor dryer?

No, human dryers are too hot and not enough power to get down to the skin through the double coat. I order mine online, they are an investment, but well worth it. Mine have lasted 17 years.

Chris Mikulski I love my K9II. It’s heavy duty. I will caution to start out with one motor for a puppy, lots of treats and stay away from the head. Even starting with a hair dryer and graduating up is good.

Do you fully comb or brush out the dog before each bath or can that be done after force drying? I have a mini Schnauzer x cocker spaniel and it takes forever to fully comb out.

Because I wash/dry every month I generally don't have mats. So I wash first and dry and brush at the same time since the dryer blows out a lot of the dead coat.
