Sitting meditation pose at work seems like posture variation... plus, it is designed for meditation, yoga or else. So it should be healthy, shouldn't it??
This is where I disagree with the common advice given by your physical therapist.
I do not agree with the fact that the best posture is the next one! If so, why do cleaning ladies, gardiners and so many others who move a lot feel pain??
Moving is necessary, but it is not enough: you need to move well. To save your back (and all other regions), you need to learn how your body works.
Here is the example of sitting in the medication pose (crossed legs) when you're at the office. I'll explain step by step:

Pain in the back, shoulder, arms or any other musculoskeletal pain should not govern your life.

I always have stacked my spine, even while driving, since I find chairs so uncomfortable. If I sit so my back touches, a bucket seat will press my sides, the headrest pushes my head forward, or my legs dangle over the edge of the chair if it's too deep. I have hip damage for 7 years now I'm trying to fix. What chair can I get to help?

Choosing the best chair is complex: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fne0Yn-QotWZi68. And advising on a specific model is even more without knowing you and the offer on your market. But with hip damage, I often recommend to test the HAG Capisco because it allows you to sit a different hip angles whilst always being supported. Have you tried that one?

Hi Oliver. I see so many people slouching but not everyone has disc problem .why is it so? Also how long it takes for disc to bulge if we sit incorrectly?

If I'd be cynical, I would give you this comparison: hang out with teenagers who all smoke; you won't see any cancer patient there. But just wait for a few years... I know, the comparison is mean. But you get the point? Slouching increase the likelihood that you develop disc issues; it does not mean that we can predict if and when you get them. Plus... don't forget that slouching also creates forward head posture. And I'm sure you know people with neck pain 😰: this comes much sooner than disc issues.
