I agree with most of your points except pvp. While it is unbalanced, It's not for the reasons you listed. People are able to take 10 times their numbers because of the experience they have and their game knowledge, vs inexperienced players. Seeing you struggle to reveal a nightblade with a 10 man group tells me none of your mates have detection potions, or know about the mage guild reveal skill, or even think to use large aoes like caltrops to reveal them. At equivalent skill, no one can take on an army. Just no one. The learning curve in pvp is huuuuge and it takes more than 4 months to really start understanding it.
@Herra_korva5 жыл бұрын
And alot, alot of people go to the CP-Cyrodil, before even being 160 cp, or after hitting 160cp. Those with 810 CP will always have an upperhand on you due to the CP difference already. Do non CP-cyro untill that. Also in when an RPG meets pvp, of course those lore and character customization loving people will be hit in the face by the minmaxers. It will always happen no matter the game. Due to the vast amount of character customization (WHICH IS AMAZING TO HAVE) it also creates-and should create- room to make tanky, self healing, almost unkillable beasts. Also knowing your class to the brink of perfection and having proper item sets will always be better than just someone taking out some gear that they have and roll with it. Also to what you said, yes stealth is very very easy to counter. Like very easy. Also, everyone can have it with potions if they want to, so no reason to complain about something everyone can choose to have if they so wish.
@Brekner5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but tbh being close to useless is not really fun, especially as a tank that dies in a few hits. I had to grind to rank 7 to unlock caltrops on my DK tank and it was horrible...just dying all the time in seconds and not being able to do much dmg or CC or anything in the graveyard, if you know what i mean.

@Jhhhijh no One Tamriel and Morrowind are dif things. One Tamriel was basically a re brand they did for the console launch, and the main gameplay change was changing it so that there was no longer dif instances of entire zones. Say you're char is in the dagger fall covenant, if you went to a AD or EP zone it would be a special version of the zone that only other DC players would be in. You could never run into players from other alliances outside of PVP. It sucked. One Tamriel made the world literally one tamriel lol.
@J_DAZ5 жыл бұрын
I think it's important to note that there is, in fact, a linear story you can do (if you look up in what order to do content) that spans from zones, to regions, to DLCs. If you follow them in proper order, the overall story of what's happening in Tamriel is absolutely amazing and is the most fulfilling experience I've gotten from a game in a very long time. But you actually have to commit to doing the story, and not just run around killing things and getting sidetracked with side quests and gear/XP farming all the time as I did for a couple years before getting focused. Also, Murkmire is one of the best stories in the game, in my opinion, so... it was worth the swamp ass. So worth it. It was crazy.

Yeah pvp is a little unbalanced but it's predominately the massive skill ceiling that creates the rift between the pros and the plebs. Obviously gearing and optimising builds plays a substantial part in it but extensive game knowledge and experience tips the scales, that nightblade for example would have been demolished if any of your group utilised mage guild reveal, caltrops, detection potions, large aoe, etc. It's the massive skill ceiling that can make you feel completely powerless (We've all been there) against a mighty foe, but to me, it's also the best thing about the pvp.
@fredeso78444 жыл бұрын
I'm late to the party, but this! Complete misjudgement by Nixxiom. Everyone complains about lack of balance and there is some truth to that, but as a 5 year PvPer I can tell you it is primarily experience that makes you seem OP to newer players. This is a fast paced game. If you don't know what to do and you don't act decisively from one second to the next, you're dead within 3. If you don't know how to attack a good PvPer, you won't do any serious damage to them. Many people don't. You could probably learn to PvP quite well within 4 months, but only if that was your main focus. The game has performance issues, but when it works it has a lot of depth. If you are a beginner at chess and you face a grandmaster or even just an intermediate player, do you expect anything but being steamrolled? You would be foolish to think otherwise. This is what ESO PvP is like. The PvPer taking on 10 noobs is like the grandmaster playing a simultaneous chess tournament against 10 inexperienced players.

@Lodewijk Vogels How? I haven't bought any Crowns from ESO at all. I have a sub and get 1,750 crowns per month for free; that's almost enough to buy a mount or a first lvl house in one month's time(and except for a few BIG, RARE houses that are Crown Store exclusive, you can buy all houses in ESO with in game gold. They just cost a lot of gold, but that's easy to get). There is nothing in the Crown store you HAVE to have; it's all just cosmetics and mounts for the most part and as I said, you get Crowns crazy fast just for being a sub, so just wait a month or so and you can afford most of them. You get all kinds of free consumables in the log in rewards and tbh, the crafted stuff is better anyways.

@Lodewijk Vogels So, what you're saying is that ESO was supposed to GIVE you all the content that they had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars developing for free? Are you nuts? You don't go into a grocery store and fill a basket full of food and expect them to let you just walk out with it for free; why does a game company have to give you content for free? Also, I have never felt like I HAD to buy this or that from the store (even lootboxes, lol); though since you think they should just give you stuff, no wonder you think the store is intrusive, LOL.

I am glad you enjoyed the game and hope you play it an cover it for many years to come :). Agree on the issues of ESO tho just a few they could really stand some polish.
@minesovmoria85695 жыл бұрын
This will be long. As a long time player of ESO, I would like to respond to some of Nixxiom’s criticism, not in an argumentative manner, but with a bit more insight as player that has played the game longer. His review is awesome and for the most part, is spot on. This game has really grown and developed into one of the best MMO's in my opinion. Keep up the great work and continue to cover ESO :) PvP/Cyro - PvP can certainly be tough to digest at times, especially early on, but all in all they do an OK job of balancing the classes out, especially as of late. What you are experiencing when fighting those very hard to kill players are people that commit most of their time to PVP in this game. Yes, some builds and classes are tankier than others, but at the end of the day, the really good ones aren’t just rolling a class that is OP. They have honed in their craft and have built a character that the suits their play style. Their entire character is centered around PVP. Everything from gear and skills to CP allocation. You could have the same gear, race, skills and CP as another player, but if they are more experienced and have a better fundamental understanding of the class, they will be better and will beat you. You are also playing in a CP campaign against max level players. Non CP/BGs tend to be a bit easier on newer players, as they do not require CP which will allow you to build through sets and skills rather than tuning your entire character into a PVP character. Enemy difficulty in open world - There are a lot of variables here that do not necessarily pertain directly to the actual difficulty of an enemy. One example, and from the clip shown here, is that your character may be somewhat under leveled or under geared. This is common in early game spaces such as the one shown in your clip. Keep on eye on the level of your gear vs your actual level, but also keep in mind that you may be running a set that gives additional bonuses and losing a piece of that set for something new because it’s a higher level might actually be a bad thing. Also, if you have CP already, remember that CP is account wide even when you’re lower than 50, so dump your CP into your low level characters if you have it. Also, keep in mind that enemies in DLC zones will typically be harder than that of non DLC zones, especially as it pertains to World Bosses. World Bosses - This is one of those ‘you’re experiencing a surge in players because it’s new content’. World bosses in Non DLC zones tend to be relatively simple and can be taken down by a good player solo, or a small group of less experienced players and tend to have 2-4million health. DLC zone World Bosses tend to be much more mechanic based and require a few players to take down, regardless of skill or level and tend to have higher health pools. As it pertains to Dragons in Elsweyr, this is very new, fun, and exciting content that EVERYONE wants to run. My 12 man core Trials group go into Elsweyr and hunt dragons for hours with tons of other people too. That is why they seem so underpowered in comparison. But after a few months the group sizes will start to diminish and you will find that taking out a 15million health Dragon in a small group will be quite challenging. While I do understand your point on adjusting the difficulty based on number of players attacking, it will eventually work its way out.

*9:36** about those "tough" NPC...* They've listened to you, for instance they've changed dragons adding more mechanics to them, and they don't stand at the same place anymore as they now also move around when grounded (compared to North Elsweyr, and they've also changed those: before, I was able to take a dragon solo with my tank, though it could take about an hour+ lmao, but not anymore), same with bosses and such. Now _many time_ I take on a dragon along other players, there are _always_ a good chance that about half of us gets killed during the battle: one must be proficient at evading AoE, fire/cold/thunder zaps and such in order to not getting killed once, even with a good healer. It's not rare to have a whole group killed in a failed attempt... *About PvP* They've also ajusted gear sets (abilities) so as to get a little more balanced experience in PvP against meta builds. However in this regard, I' have to say that this is one of ESO's feature : you have a gazillions of possibilities, but not _all_ of them are actually efficient, it's for the player to use his/her brain in choosing the best among what he/she could have under hand (or loot for), it's part of the game as it is in life. The difference is that there,s not _one or two_ meta anymore, there are _numerous_ meta depending on class/skills/race/fighting style combinations (at least that's what Zenimax seems to aim for). For new comers, they'd be better off in _non_ CP PvP, (which leaves aside any Champion Points skills), until they get more knowledgeable and acquainted with the possibilities. *About housing* I've never paid ANYTHING in order to equip my Manor (look it up on the EU server - Nowadays I play more on the Amercian server to have a new fresh start - and it's my home continent), except for actually owning the Daggerfall Overlook. If you have the Dragonhold DLC, completing the main quest will give you a big house (constituted of 4 small zones).You can get most if not all furniture via crafting plans you'd loot along dungeon crawling and such, or buy those plans via in-game gold at players guild merchants; You can win deco statues and torso by completing Undaunted quests/boss killing; you can buy gear sets or simple crafting stations as well as special housing apparels/deco via in-game writ vouchers (you'd need to max a corresponding crafting skill in order to get writ Master commands which will give you those vouchers when completed); or you can simply buy all you need in players guild merchants via in-game gold, including standard crafting stations, etc., etc. DO NOT buy any furniture from the Crown store! ;-)

you cant walk into ESO pvp and think your going to be a god, you need to work at it, constantly improving yourself, your gear, your build, your use of the environment and the understanding of what your opponents are doing or going to do (would have helped with the nightblade). also your use of skills (would have helped with the nightblade) there are a number of skills that can reveal or bring the nb out of stealth.

The problem with that logic is that players who enjoy PvP and begin playing the game can turn away that new person due to that feeling of being useless for so long. compared to something simpler like Guild Wars 2 or WoW which may be simpler but is more open to that new player.

I've been waiting to play ESO for a while but I am resistant 2 major reasons: 1. Overwhelming content. Where the hell do I start? How do I know what gear is good? Should I craft my own? So on so forth. 2. Time commitment. I don't have much time throughout the year to play the game. I love games but MMOS are a major time sink. It all boils down to do I want to put time in the game. A more personal question.
@СтефанДобрев-я4ф5 жыл бұрын
1. If you buy the cheapest version of the game will put you in Vvardenfell at first, but right after that you can teleport wherever you want in the world, it will be scaled to your level. 2. You can relax and play this game very casually, just as I do. You can play through the story of the game, you can craft, you can talk to the very nice community, etc. If you do not participate in PVP, you won't even need to care about gear, but if you do, keep in mind that gear has a long-lasting impact (2017 gear can still be viable in 2019 for example). If you subscribe to ESO+, not only will you get unlimited craft bag so you won't worry about bag space, but you will also get crowns every month and if you save up on them, you can buy a house in-game where you can relax and do you your own stuff
@Tedmaster145 жыл бұрын
It's honestly a better game with a major time commitment than without one. Unlike other mmo's (I'm looking at you, WoW), the leveling and character progression is fun and the game doesn't punish you for playing how you want until end game or pvp. A few hours a day and you'll have a blast.

@Michael591975 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with you. I would totally recommend ESO as the best option for a MMO game right now, in my opinion. I would also like to point out some things myself. One of the greatest advantages of the gaming experience is the immersion level. All npcs in ESO have voice overs and every area has a unique story to be uncovered. That makes even simple quests feel enjoyable and not a chore. Plus even max level players can benefit from them by getting extra skill points and overland armor sets. That makes even older content relevant. Professions are worth taking in ESO. You can get a lot of money with dailies, and at max level you can craft really good sets, or upgrade and modify the ones you got from other sources. Another great benefit is that you can make your character any way you want. Every class can take every role and do PVP with the addition of some skills. Experimenting with skills and sets is a lot of fun and makes every character unique. On the bad side of things I have to admit that a lot of skills feel the same across skill lines. Hail of arrows or wall of elements? Stamina dds are forced to pick the same weapon and generic skills which make your class choice kind of irrelevant. Healers too. And the game is still not alt friendly. You will have to repeat the same stuff with every new character, like main quest for the skill points, or searching for sky shards and lore books. And most of the trading guilds demand gold every now and then and kick you if you take a break. I would also like to share my thoughts on Elsweyr. The necromancer class gives me mixed feelings. On one hand the corpse mechanic is interesting and some of the skills are great. On the other hand, there are no perma summons and as damage dealers they can't compete with sorcerers and nightblades. They need some tinkering. The main story feels lacking, mostly because they added a ton of villains and left them underdeveloped. The moment you are introduced to them, you kill them and move on. Summerset had a much better story. The landscape is better and more diverse though, and the side quests are fantastic. The dragons aren't much fun to fight, still better than Skyrim though. The sets are disappointing and mostly useless, except for the trials. Overall I would give it a 8/10.

You forgot to mention the awesome community! One thing that scared me away from MMOs in the past was the toxic community, people shooting you down as soon as you did something wrong, or even asking for help. I can't say how many times as younger i almost felt like crying bc of bullying of non-mature MMOs.. especially being a shy and sensitive person, it was traumatic! But ESO tempted me bc I loooove ES games and i just couldn't resist. First weeks or even months, i turned off everything regarding chat. But after a while, my friend joined ESO as well and it wasn't long until he opened my eyes to the awesome community. People are generally very friendly, helpful and some takes hours out of their day to teach you stuff. I remember a stranger spending about 400k gold on getting nice armour and utilities for me. Then i had no idea of the value but now.. wow.. mindblown. Another thing that i find amazing compared to other MMOs, is that you don't have to grind your ass off. Sure, you maybe wanna grind far above championpoint system and reaching cap levels and all that shit, but you don't really have to unless you aim for end-game content. As long as you reach championpoint system and starts leveling championpoints, all gear you get, will be yours and viable forever - since the gear cap is championpoint cp160 level, while championpoint roof is currently cp810. There is some gear in my inventory, that i've had for approx.. 3 years now and is still very good and strong today. So i still have the gear that the stranger got me, all those years ago. Pretty amaze thing, isn't it? #loveit Ofc the meta changes slightly with the patch updates as they balance the game in general and classes etc, and then you will have to grind some new gear but meta doesn't really matter that much if you don't push for end-game content such as for example raids. If you wanna be able to clear most content in the game, then you need to be a perfectionist. No way around it really.. And that goes for your gear as well.

In regards to the community of ESO. Unlike a lot of other MMO's the community in ESO is derived from devoted fans of the Elder Scrolls universe. So many of us came from the single player RPG versions into what I see as one of the most enjoyable and lovingly created game worlds I have ever experienced. To me, at least, the majority of the game was created for the players, and we want everyone else to enjoy the game with us. I don't usually engage in world chat, but I had the same experience you did starting out. When I asked the person how could I repay them, they just said to return the favour to someone else who needed it. That armour and staff are still in my vault locked away and renamed to remind me of the spirit of the universe created by the players and by ZOS

ESO has so many different things to do for all types of players, it has a loads of dungeons and trials for hardcore your PVE crowd, the PvP is so rewarding when you are successful but to do that you have to put in a lot of hours into learning how to properly take advantage of mechanics and builds, work out what sets work well together and how to utilise them properly for your play style. That’s what is best about the game, it’s all about you’re playstyle, you can play however you want and still enjoy it. I'm a big Bethesda fan (played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim), so the fact that I haven't played this is surprising. I think it had to do with me knowing it would be shit when it came out (which I understand now from the reviews has changed a lot) coupled with the fact that Skyrim was a disappointment to me. From what I remember, I didn't have fun with Skyrim and even though I beat the game, I didn't do everything possible.

In my opinion the biggest problem ESO has is the difficulty. Like Nixxiom said, its always way too easy, but what he does not mention is: Its way too easy until it isnt, and then its just unfair overtuned. A good example I encounter, and a reason why I always go back to that area just to offer help is one quest in Shadowfen, where you suddendly have to fight an elite enemy with a giant debuff that crippels you and prevents all healing... unless you run a nuke build, that quest is almost impossible without help... Same goes for Dungeons, like 80% of them, even on Veteran mode, are so easy, 810+ CP players run them solo. (Which is another problem, most of your dungeon runs while leveling will be 1 or 2 guys speedrunning the dungeon while you try to keep up...) And again, thats untiol they are not... and then you suddendly get Trashmobs groups where some of them just oneshot everyone but the tank with no warning... SO yeah, the difficulty in ESO is a joke... But the game makes up for it oin other areas.

the difficulty, the combat, the one tamriel update and the scaling...

@@martinivanov1319 What? The Combat is one of my favorite parts in ESO... Same with the open world scaling... Of course that doesnt mean that you cant think they are bad, i mean, different people, different opinions, yes?^^

It's the tanks job to taunt the one shot mobs, btw they actually do have signs that the one shot attack is incoming such as charging a heavy attack

It's probably because you don't know how to play the game and they are taking advantage of you go on KZbin Learning build practice that build everyday get some 1v1 in don't be afraid to lose and then once you feel good on a character go in PvP do not join in a group and try to get some kills by yourself this how you become better you would die you will get tea-bagged and all of that don't say those guys don't have the right to stay alive they're just better than you learn how to get good people like this guy is the reason why he is so is becoming a shity game

Yay. More ESO. Thought you may be done since classic beta was out. I'm also a WoW refugee. How can I find your guild in ESO and apply? Thanks!

I'm just waiting for Nixxiom to start doing hard mode dlc dungeons and vet trials. I want to see his response to the end game community and the difficulty that is ahead of him.

I would go as far to say that ESO is the best MMO on the market. It has the modern mmo elements (group finder, zone scaling, cash shop etc) but because ow how story driven it is, how dungeons scale, the world, and other world events it has a hint of the old school MMO vibe. Idk jsut try it if you haven't and if you don't "like the combat" wait until you get the dual weapon bar. Its pretty meh until then.
