A year ago I was able to live in 29 countries being a Brit with residency in Hong Kong. I had a TRIPLE WHAMMY this year. First in Jan the Brexit withdrawal agreement was passed with the loss of Euro freedom of movement, then the pandemic shut most of the world borders, and then within weeks HK, my bolthole was turned upside down with the Chinese communist party security law making living there intolerable. As a digital nomad I watched in horror as virtually all my options fell away. I was scrambling to find somewhere to go where I could live relatively freely and safely. I discovered this channel and haven't looked back, already got myself another residency this year and more in the pipeline. Thank you Andrew & team for your insights and the gold mine of information you put out here. Magnificent channel, bang up to date and intelligent advice

I was in this situation in 2015 in Brazil: everything falling apart, the currency was crumbling and I was finally getting my Portuguese citizenship by birthright. My son was born an year later and then we were ready to leave, waiting just for a opportunity . And then we left last year. I’ve had an option and now I have different problems. And I’m happy, despite the f@$& pandemic...

Go where you're treated best is always the key. As I've started traveling I've seen what Andrew said to be so true. I need a country to target. Plan to check out Morocoo in 2021. From what I've researched they seem kinda strict with their residency programs.
@shotelco
@shotelco 3 жыл бұрын
We've had Moroccan residency for some years now. There are several paths depending on what you are "bringing to the table", who you know, and even which area of the Country. The key is, like almost everywhere I've been, one needs to get ones _Boots on the Ground_ in their target location/s (or one needs to engage a consultancy like Andrews group). When one is on location, that's when the real opportunities and options become visible. This can not be done by "Internet".

@@shotelco this is soooooo true. I've been to the Dominican Republic and the Philippines and even though I researched there were some things I needed to learn on my own and it tested who I am as a man. I want to fo to Rabat. From what I've researched it seems like a pretty relaxed spot. I would like to know what I need to "bring to the table to them".

I think we need several. I was thinking Uruguay but its expensive and they just closed their borders to their own citizens who are abroad. So that one moved way down my list. If they can do that crap once they can do it again. Maybe Brazil and somewhere in Asia? (I have US/Argentina now, Argentina sucks). And I am looking at an EU passport by descent. I want to be able to move around the globe without some bureaucrat closing doors in my face.

@@mynamename5172 You have the right to live in Brazil because you’re a citizen of Mercosur. The difference in passports is negligible. A European passport is a good thing to have in your back pocket, but I’d also be aware that they could easily pull the “taxation by citizenship” card across the union after they’re done with covid. Maybe try the Caribbean?

@@nomadcapitalist If you're claiming that the majority of people who fought in the Revolutionary War against England were actually born in England, you're mistaken. If you're not willing to fight for your country and its principles, you're really not a citizen of any country really other than on paper. My point is, The United States would not exist today if everyone had your mindset. You are out for you and only you. You've stated as much.
