Matt D'Avella i dug it man. I'm an avid reader myself. On anything from "self help", to finance, to business/entrepreneurship, to philosophy. Out of the titles you mentioned, dave ramseys TMMO changed my entire view point on finance, and people in general. It blew my mind!! It also got me thinking about the habits i was keeping. It was recommended to me by a contractor that i worked with a few years ago. Entreleadership is another of daves books that are very good. I know you basically run a business yourself. I highly recommend it.

5 bullshit books that every typecast knucklehead will try and find an advantage in. The Art Of War is good for historical purposes but as relevant and useful as a horse’s tail. I remember thinking it was cool when I was in high school. Then I grew out of comic books, bullshit literature and the junk everyone thinks they can find an advantage in when everyone else on the plane’s reading it...

I don’t know if you did this „on purpose“ but I’m glad there are no amazon links to the books in the description. Guys if you want to buy books try get them second hand because most books are produced in large amounts and there’s no need to produce even more of this particular book. Or maybe just support your local book shop, if we don’t overthink our ways of consumption soon all the special little stores won’t exist anymore.

Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover had the biggest impact on my life. I didn't expect it to either. I was 24, had a really good paying job, new truck, lots of nice things, and I actually did have a lot of money saved up. Then I read the book. In 6 months I paid off $38,000 of debt and saved up $10k for my emergency fund. Now, I'm 25, debt free, making $100k/year and I actually just interviewed for a different position making $20k less a year, but I'm going to be home a lot more! If it wasn't for DR, I couldn't see myself taking the paycut.

The 4-Hour Workweek was to me what “The Game” was to you and it was the first book I read that got me into thinking about operating in a way different from everyone else. If nothing else, the book made me realize that the popular approach to life and success isn’t necessarily the best. I read it just before my senior year of high school which I think was a really good time to come to those realizations.

For me, the one book that changed my life was Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. I read that book in a period of darkness in my life, when everything I did and wanted to do was filled with pain and grey skies. This book by Frankl gave me the idea of suffering and what it does, and how life, even in the worst of moments, has a plan. But it all depends on how one react to the suffering. "“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

"4 Hour" is on my list to-read (I even bought it because I love books) and I'm glad to see it has made such an impact on you (hopefully this defines that it's a really good read). I read business, leadership, and self help books for fun, although I have been slacking more recently. This video makes me feel inspired to devote more time again to reading so I shall see about making more time! My current book I'm reading is "Thrive" by Arianna Huffington (from The Huffington Post). Instead of taking a week to read, it has been probably 3 weeks (sadly). Almost finished, but it's a great read about slowing down in life. Taking the time to get the proper amount of sleep, doing small things like meditating and giving back. If you are looking for something to read I recommend it and think you would enjoy it.

"You are a BADASS" has really helped me eith depression. I've had many careers. Been in thr military and gone to war. Bought a house in my early 20's. And accomplished a few things. But i always battled depression and in relationships i would self destruct. This book helped me get a better mindset and improve my thought process from being so negative. The irony is my girlfriend at the time bought it for me to help me get out of depression and i didnt read it until after we broke up. I think everyone needs their "ah ha" moment

'Your Money or Your Life' was a huge part of my minimalism journey that started in the 1990's. Don Aslett's 'Clutter's Last Stand' is a fun book about our ridiculousness around our stuff and was from the mid 1980's! Very applicable as well, easy to read and easy to follow. Minimalism wave was already going and it helped me to create a home and life with young children, based on awesome principles before I got on the bandwagon of consumerism. 💚☀️💚☀️💚☀️💚

The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker is a book I am currently reading. I am finding it very informative especially as a woman, but I think men should also read it. It pretty much points out signs of danger in situations (more for women), and to not ignore your gut instincts in order to protect yourself, though there is a lot more to the book. It's not a book based on minimalism or finances, but I still think its a good informative book.

I agree wholeheartedly that Matt's videos are of exceptional quality. I also agree with you that finding KZbinrs of exceptional quality is hard. BUT I think that not because quality is rare, but because this platform makes it hard to FIND. I work exceptionally hard on my videos (20+ years of TV experience helps) but i've discovered that finding the audience is the hardest aspect. I wonder how many other amazing youtubers are making exceptional videos that I've just never heard of?

As a father hitting his 40s rereading To Kill a Mockingbird was amazing. You read it as a teenager because its assigned in school. Its a completely different book as you get older and see the world from Atticus' perspective. If there is a fictional character that I try to emulate, its him.

If you look at it that way, almost all self-help books are like that. "The Subtle Art..." is different in that it doesn't go into the same stuff that many other books continue to knock you over the head with. Stuff like mortality, being content, being human are covered pretty extensively.

I'm so happy that you included The Game in your list of books. Very honest of you; I respect that. I found it so incredibility fascinating and useful. Many people initially think that pickup artist communities are about fake and cheap pickup lines but the successful ones are not. It's about real connections and developing yourself into a quality person that people want to align with you to be a part of your pack/tribe. It really shows the possibility to drastically change your life. Incredible book for both males and females.
