@Atkascha Force India build on from what Spyker was (which was a terrible led team). Stroll bought the team and it's now 100% under his private ownership. All I have to say is Lawrence is a really smart and insightful dude. It almost seems like everything is falling in place for Aston Martin. First dude buys Force India and controlling share in Aston Martin Lagonda, cleverly rebrands F1 team to AMR which gives a huge boost to Aston Martin Lagonda. Identifies weaknesses in the team and takes action to tackle those - infrastructure, personnel, world champion drivers, highly experiences team bosses. Gets Aramco on board which is filthy rich. Swoops up Honda and gets the team a works deal. If everything goes right this trinity of AM - Honda - Aramco will be huge in 2026, we are talking dominance.

Not how this works. Honda needed a partner and they are going to pay for everything engine-wise. So the engines will be free, and support will be paid by Honda. And maybe they will pay even more like they did at McLaren were they also paid for half of the salaries of the drivers. And apart from this there are sponsor-deals. Not sure if Honda paid for the Red Bull sponsoring (they are right now) in 2021, but probably. Peter Windor said that normally deals work like this if you want sponsor display.

Whether RB decide to replace Perez with Tsunoda in the forseeable future or some other team scoops him up will tell you enough how big of a talent Tsunoda actually is. You can thank the manufacturers for dropping the ball so hard. RB have done a brilliant job but the gap is this big because everyone else did such a shit job. Mercedes are stuck in the dark with what to do with these new regs, their entire engineering philosophy was crippled by the budget cap and it will take many years to properly adapt. Ferrari are the definition of one step forward two steps back. They have this weird ability to be good enough to remain towards the top, but have completely lost the ability to actually make those final steps that take you to the very top. Alpine is an even more comically depressing manufacturer that makes Ferrari look like they've got their shit together. Everyone else is a customer and despite AM's leap, it's clear that even with frozen engines and budget caps the customers can't compete with manufacturers unless they get it horribly wrong, like Mercedes has done. The reality is, the budget cap has exposed who's got the best engineering talent hired and the track action shows. Whether the competition can get its shit together for next year and RB starts hitting some diminishing returns remains to be seen, so right now all we really can talk about is the future because the present has been well decieded barring the odd race with some anomalous outcome.

Given the fact there are absolute engineering geniuses on both the AM and Honda side currently (hopefully more by the time 2026 comes around), I have little doubt they can't get his right. What's a few hand tweaks of the engine nuts to match the fuel going to take?

It’s clear McLaren has lost its way but the current turbo-hybrid engines are so insanely complex that it takes several years to maximize performance, and Red Bull reaped the rewards while McLaren were the test mules who suffered. One reason Hamilton shocked everyone and moved to Mercedes when they were shit was he knew Merc had been developing their turbo-hybrid for years and were immediately ready to win when 2014 season started

The thing about Lance Stroll is this: Aston Martin, and more specifically Lawrence Stroll need to have a hard look at the situation and consider whether Lance is truly good enough to drive a car that aspires to win titles or whether he'll be holding the team back and potentially might even cost them the constructor title if everything else goes to plan and they manage to have a top car. It's all fun an games when the car was just good enough to be a midfield car without much in the way of aspirations. And if Lance doesn't improve to compare more favorably with Alonso it might be him that Honda would like to push out, not Alonso.

It certainly helps if your father is a billionaire and yourself not too bad, all joking aside Stroll did well in his pre-f1 career. Just not spectaculair well as some of the world champions. But i bet he can go pretty well if his car is also good. It remains to be seen how much having his son in the team will impact any other driver in that team especially one that isn't as experienced as Alonso once he decides to leave. For example does Mr Stroll allow another driver that destroys his son in race results time and time again? I don't see him hiring Max Verstappen after his contracts runs out at Red Bull after 2026 season for example.

Will they still be a customer team for parts? Aston uses as many Mercedes parts as they can, this includes the engine but also things like suspension elemets, so will they still be supplied for these parts by Mercedes or make their own parts? When they were racing point, they tried to copy the Mercedes design but still used a high rake concept that didn't work, when they made it low rake similar to the Mercedes car they gained pace. So they need a whole package, the parts they buy from Mercedes are adapted to work specifically with the Mercedes engine and would likely need to be adapted to be optimal for the Honda engine.

Why are you assuming Lance is a stumbling block? Sure enough Alonso seems to like this car but has years and years of experience to set the car up to his liking. Look at Lance pre f1 career it is quite good actually. Give him the experience to go for a year or 5-6 and he should get the experience to be more clear to his engineers to set up his car. Don't forget that Max for example has been driving f1 since he was 17 and now is 25. That's 8 years and only last year was his first year you could argue he was better then the rest. These thing cost time especially for drivers that don't jump in a top tier team at the start of their f1 careers.
