Fantastic lesson, David, great insight into playing Swing, Soul Jazz, Jump Blues 11-V turnaround ideas. That Gm9 (11 chord in F major) is of course also Bbmaj7, lovely melodic group of notes that are easy to grab and play out of chord shapes. And natural sub for Gminor9. Then using the F blues to play over the V7 chord (C7) and then targeting the F, home base, one chord. Yep thats the sound so often heard on these old records (Sax, & Hammond B3 artists from the late 50's & 60's are a great source, such as Willis Jackson, Jack McDuff, etc etc). Your explanations of what to play over these changes are extremely well done, and total lightbulb moment for me. Cheers from Australia, thanks, Pete.

Is there some tabs available for us jazz rookies? ..I am an old blues picker 67.. who loves what your laying down..but a tab sheet might be helpful..I’m confused how you use that flat 3rd to transition to pentatonic.

Hi Larry - yes, I get it! Alas, this series is from before when I was regularly including tab in the lessons. If I get a chance to go back through some of the older lessons and update them this will definitely be one of the ones to get that attention.

Do you have to talk with your hands like that?! Your videos are very instructive, but you talk way too much! So annoying to listen to you!
