I stumbled onto this video because a friend asked me what fish plating is, and I wanted to show him a video. I did a bit of fish plating myself as a fleet mechanic back in the 80's. These guy are thorough, overlapped, staggered and angled joints, added rails are full length, triple thick, combination of riveting and welding, etc etc. We used an air hammer with chisel and rivet attachments, bout the only thing we did different. These guys are good.

Not a single bit of static or dynamic analysis went into that monstrosity. It may be heavier than needed and burn a ton more fuel over it's lifetime and have way more wear and tear or too weak to carry the 150 people that will be hanging off of it as it plows through a mountain pass. U can just get a tandem truck also tandem trucks have bigger engines, these guys do excellent work but here in the US doing that is useless because the truck has a weight limit wether you add tires or not you would be overloaded.
