Here is how I converted my trem on my PRS Custom 24 to fixed bridge: Got two additional springs with heavier tension that pull back the trem until the overlap sits tight on the body (put something inbetween the trem an the body or you might damage the finish). I additionally screwd in the anchor of the springs further into the body, which increases the tension even more. Done. Very easy and effective. You will have to adjust intonation however because the saddles will be out of place right after you did that. And here is another reminder, if you own an original PRS and you're in financial trouble and tempted to sell you PRS - DON'T! You will always regret it! Happened to me and my Custom 24 (25th Anniversary Edition from 2009), I sold it at one point for half the retail price (which was $3.600 new and I got 1.700 for it) and I regret this decision to this day! In hindsight I know I could have solved my financial troubles in different ways.

Man, I haven't even watched the vid yet but I've done this on many guitars... firstly, get it set up the way YOU like, then cut a piece of treated wood (i.e, something that isn't total garbage) and knock that sucker into place behind the bottom of the saddle with or without some glue, BAM! Gotcha a hard tail with (possibly) better resonance and tuning.☺️

I tried making my strat have a floating bridge. I love using tremolo bars while jamming. But it goes out of tune and its frustrating, especially if i want to play shows with my buddys band. I dont like having to tune every time i bend a string. I even have nice locking tuners but they don't do much with the bridge floating.
@outermarker58019 ай бұрын
Great job, turned out nicely! I'm assuming you didn't just block the original because you just hated how it looks? I just bought a Strat copy with a decent trem. But since I have no use for the system I just decked and blocked it with a sized piece of wood in the cavity. Instant 'hardtail'.

As a cabinetmaker/carpenter/amateur guitar builder i'm cringing watching you use a laser cutter and little thin peices of wood to fill the cavity, hope it worked ok but you should of routered out the cavity square and put in a solid piece or couple thicker pieces or maple (cut with a saw....lol) the thickness of the body.....just sayin.

It looks great, and that laser cutter is pretty sweet!

Why did you keep the locking nut after the strings? You lost the fine tuning capabilities of the other bridge so it doesn't really make sense to me to have a locking nut. it's not even like a gibson headstock where it arguably fixes the string angle, i'm.. really confused ngl.
@sixstringtv1 Жыл бұрын
1) It's look raw and awful underneath that locking nut if I took it off 2) The tuning pegs I bought are cheap and horrible

I really don’t understand that - just why do people cut the strings? Why is that even a thing, you have to deal with double the amount of pieces of metal to throw away, isn’t it just easier to unwind them and pull them out?

Geez what a hackjob... If you like the guitar as much as you previously said you do, maybe at least get some descent pickups. I think it goes without saying you could've done a much better job "filling" the cavity and mounting the bridge, but I guess the effort wasn't worth the YT clicks and you don't like the guitar enough to put the time and effort for this. Also you might wanna check how/if the electronics are still grounded somehow gutting the whole tremolo system.
