@@crazyowlgirlcncowner wish I could do some of these with them. When you say there’s nothing “special” I think that’s the point... their meant to be kept for a while so it’s supposed to be good quality so you can keep it forever and be relatively timeless fashion. I’ve never tried Reformation either.... but thats what I’ve heard from huge fans of it 🤷🏼♀️
@dinkyboss4 жыл бұрын
Nay Nay the thing is most people don’t have 200$ to drop for a plain black dress. So if you’re going to spend that much you’d expect an impeccable fit or cool design details. Unless of course you can afford to spend tons of money on basics. Which is why their fan base generally skews wealthy.
@magalisart4 жыл бұрын
hi sierra! 120 dollars for a dress isn't that expensive actually, if you consider the designing of the dress, the sourcing of the materials, the dyeing, the sewing, the transport, selling in the shops, advertisement, and that all these workers are being paid a fair wage! You said that there were sustainable options out there that are not that expensive, but honestly, that's probably just greenwashing. You cannot produce something ethically and fair and having a dress cost 50 bucks, that just doesn't add up. so, sustainability always comes with a price! :) ps: i'm so happy you're back, and i love that you're promoting a fair fashion brand!
@crazyowlgirlcncowner4 жыл бұрын
I think this also helps promote minimalistic shopping, like really being mindful about if you want that item/ if you NEED it. If you don't buy clothes too often and can get lots of wear out of your clothes $200 for a dress might be more bearable. ☺
@ahub874 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't think the price of $120 was expensive for a dress in general. However, I just felt the quality of the $198 dress wasn't there. Reformation has beautiful dresses but some many of them are extremely short or have ridiculously high slits that it makes it unwearable in the working world. I do like that it shows that a line can be sustainable and still beautiful.
@jacquelineavery4 жыл бұрын

This is a really troubling trend I’ve noticed with youtubers. They are so used to fast fashion that they think paying more than $50 for anything isn’t worth it. As you said, nothing can be ethically made for the prices they’re used to.

Carson Brown that’s true. That’s not the point I was trying to make though. They have information of the model’s measurements including their height. Obviously they are all on the taller side so a tall person can imagine how it would look on them easily. I was saying she can simply look at the website for reference on the length. I was only saying I have a harder time picturing how the dresses would look on me as I am much shorter.

@xSingerGirl154 жыл бұрын
Video Idea: I would LOVE to see a video like this, but with girls that are the same size as you (and possibly Lisa too), but different heights... so like a girl who's a size 2 or 14 but is like 5'10"+ The reason why I think this would be interesting is because it seems like a lot of "issues" with the fit of these clothes are because they're designed for someone taller than you, so I think it would be interesting to kinda put that to the max and see how it would fit on someone that's on the complete opposite side of the spectrum but height-wise instead of numerical size-wise
@katiechambers13194 жыл бұрын
Anna Gerber right! Even if the person wasn’t that tall but more like a normal 5’6-5’7 because both Liz and Sierra are extremely short so I think that’s where a lot of the problems come from.

The prices are, imho, good for a sustainable brand. 30 dollars for a dress is basically the price point of not-the-cheapest fast fashion brands such as Zara. You cannot expect 30 dollars to pay for ethically and sustainably sourced materials AND fair wages for the workers. Most cheaper sustainable clothing brands are not that sustainable (H&M's "sustainable" clothing line is very problematic) - Everlane comes to mind and while they for sure are trying they are far from being the best (def worse than Reformation, at least for now). Also keep in mind that basic dress (ideally no dye) will cost less than a patterned colourful one. Not trying to be mean, it's great you are trying more enviromentally friendly clothes and I definitely would like to see more of that - maybe some thrift shoping would be good, too, there are so many different challanges you can do alone or with others - of course after all this madness is behind us! For now, you can maybe do some altering of your less used pieces? Maybe recreating some famous/crazy/... outfits with what you have at home? Bless you!

I always think it’s really weird to see people talk about how ridiculous the pricing for reformation is. Not many of their items are “everyday wear” and have a bit more complicated construction. Even if you lowball 10 Hrs to make an item, you have to factor in fair pay, sourcing material, company overhead, and profit. Not saying the prices aren’t expensive, but the prices aren’t unreasonable in the slightest.

I got the idea from the first dress Lisa wore in this video. I tend to have the same issue, and quick fixing that takes me less than five minutes nowadays. So if you have a sewing machine at home, you could easily do quick fixes on clothes in your wardrobe that you don't wear / clothes from Steven's clothes. (If you don't, it's a bit less easy, but still doable). Unworn clothes take an unnecessary toll on the environment, and I really feel like doing something to help the planet (and occasionally your wallet) makes a lot of people feel better in these difficult times. These prices are not ridiculous. Consumers are just accustomed to cheap prices for clothing, however these dirt cheap prices reflects manufacturing processes that are highly wasteful, environmentally damaging, and ethically irresponsible. Reformations prices are extremely fair and reflect pieces that were made in ways that are both sustainable and ethical. They recycle textiles, minimize waste, are water conscious and are working towards providing 100% living wages across the board. Jeans are terrible for the environment, consuming a lot of energy to produce and contributing immense water waste and pollution. Reformation makes some of the cleanest jeans on the market. Reformation prices are very reasonable given their ethical and environmental practices. Clothing just should not be as cheap as it is.

I am so happy you make these videos. I've always struggled with feeling uncomfortable in my size and I always bought too small sizes. And now that I actually fit size small I still don't feel comfortable and these videos really help me to see that every size can look beautiful.

LOVE your outfits!

In the first outfit, Lisa looks like what you would imagine a chic version of that girl that played Peter Pan in your 6th grade production of Peter Pan but gown up and killin it. You both are so gorgeous. Thank you for all the lovely content girlie. Resent my I have been becoming more and more confident in who I am and loving my changing body. I have discovered that I am so much happier and that I can enjoy life more now that I am being more accepting of myself and realizing that I don’t need those people in my life that make me feel as though I have to change who I am to fit their “standards”. Thank you so so so much Sierra. Keep killin it queen! I love you.

Have you done any videos with a size 6/8? I am a 6 who fluctuates and never see anyone my size, usually its tiny or plus size. Would love to see a third with you and lisa for comparison

Me too! Typically I’m an 8, sometimes a 6 and I never see 6-8 represented! 😣😣
