Sizing Dirt Bikes with Kids

Here we have Chase and Garrett who are 5'4" tall and 5'10 inches tall. They try out 4 dirt bikes: Honda CRF125FB, Kawasaki KX85, Kawasaki KLX140RF, and a Kawasaki KX250. Let's see which bikes are a good match for their size and skill level.

Hey, question for you. I'm 15 and 5'8 feet tall. I've been riding a Honda CRF110F for about 3 years now and interested in joining motocross soon. Now, I'm trying to find a good dirtbike to use for MX and I've come across two choices. The KX 112, and the YZ125. I feel as if I would grow out the KX 112 too fast but the YZ125 seems too high for me. I'm most likely going to be 5'9 with the boots I'll be wearing, so which choice is best for me and is there any alternatives if none of them are okay?

I agree that you will quickly outgrow the 112. Go with the YZ125 and put a lowering link in to lower the seat height if needed. You'll find that on a lot of the used YZ's, the seat height will be lower than stock because it's old and settled in.

I think if we're going to get a new dirtbike it's going to have to be new, so we'll most likely be settling on the 2022 YZ125 so if you can let me know if it's possible to lower the seat height on that 2022 version. Also, I'm around 130-140 pounds so is that a good weight for the YZ125 and will I be able to control it? This would be my first 2 stroke dirtbike

Hey I got a question for you I want to get into trail riding I’ve been riding a minibike and a quad Chinese 110 I wanna find a good trail bike that I won’t grow out of I’m 5 foot seven I want kickstart and something that’s not too slow or too heavy what do you think I should get. Ps I’m 15 to and I know how to ride a manual

It depends a bit on how much growing you will be doing, but at 5'7", your best options are Kawasaki KLX140RF but it doesn't have kickstart, or Honda CRF230F, which also doesn't have a kickstarter. Both of these will feel a little big until you get to 5'8" or 5'9" though. A Kawasaki KX100 will be about the same size, and way faster, with better suspension because it's a motocross bike, but wouldn't be the best trail bike. It also requires more maintenance, adjustment, and tuning.

A KX100 or KX112 or YZ85 large wheel will perform better than the 150RB in my opinion and be easier to maintain. A 250R is going to be too big until you get to about 5'9" at least.

CR250F trail bike will probably get you close. A KX100 or KX112 will do it, but it's going to be too small for you. You're just about big enough for a YZ125 or 250 mx bike.

kx85 you might have to lower it but get a big wheel bc a small wheel is going to get way to small after you grow a little

U will be able to ride both, they r pretty much the exact same bro, I would suggest a yz250f (four stroke) or a yz250 (2 stroke) which u will be able to grow into and wont get bored of the other bikes. (buy it second hand not new)

@@shaq5186 yz125 is a great bike with lots of power, and as to a 125 4 stroke i believe that a ttr 125 is your best bet, which is in more of a "beginner range". Also a great bike is a yz250f which is 4 stroke (pretty similar in power to the yz125)
