Sips and Sjin, using charcoal you get from a treefarm is a great idea, but may I suggest turning the wood into scaffolds and using those as fuel instead? Scaffolds are more efficient than any other wood products (including charcoal) for use in IC2 generators or Stirling/Steam engines. =)

For every block near a windmill, the power it produces is decreased. If you want much power at all, windmills need to be spread out above y=90. They generate very low voltage, so you can use them with tin cabling however, but keep in mind you can only go 40 blocks with any wiring before the power they produce is reduced to 0. To fix this, add in low voltage transformers every 40 blocks on the way up.

Go to the nether, find a nether fortress, kill blazes and get enought Blaze Rods to make two Ender Tanks. Then set up a pump over the endless lava supply in the nether and create a "Chunk Loader" to keep the pump pumping. Now you can power Magmatic engines, which is made by creating a pulverizer, power it anyhow, just get the job done by pulverizing iron and ferrorus ore.

An easy temporary power source would be to burn scaffold in the sterling engine as 1 scaffold burns the same a a plank of wood and 3 planks and 3 sticks makes 16 scaffold. Defiantly worth it while your setting up a permeant power source.

I just realized that Sips and Sjin came up with the exact same power network I have in my world. Basically, a steve's cart minecraft chops down trees, gets smelted, and goes to coal generators. Sjin, on the DW20 pack in FTB u can make actual mahogany doors, both styles of full wood doors (no window) or like the normal vanilla door with a window but mahogany colored. the Sphax texture pack doesn't seem to have textures for them that make them look nice or hd but they exist in a mod in that pack. so talk to lewis bout maybe getting that mod in Yogcraft or get the Mo'creatures mod, u can tame many more animals than just horses & pigs & through thaumcraft u can make some of them fly.
