Can confirm. No new firmware available, both my 1tb and 2tb drives are suffering from the slc cache being full, dropped speeds to 1/3 at best. I'm outside the vendor warranty window, and sk Hynix hasn't replied to me still after 3 weeks. Unless a new firmware is made available to fix the issue, consider them garbage. It's a shame because before the issue cropped up, they were awesome.

the drive suffers from a controller firmware (or hardware bug) causing the drive to not purge the SLC cache and will cause the drive to run at NON SLC cacheing write speeds unless you fully format the drive. been an issue that people on reddit and other forums have been posting about this drive for a while now

I have heard these drives have a bug and never clear their slc cache. Reddit says not to buy these unless they get a firmware update. Has that issue been fixed?

It's important that comments like this aren't ignored. If there's a bug that multiple owners have voiced, there are plenty more units doing this which aren't noted on reddit.

The drive may be cool, but it has a significant speed drop problem. And this problem has not been solved yet.

The P44 Pro can be had a bit cheaper In my findings. I've had one for a few months now. It's been a great drive so far. Just ordered a P41 for work stuff. Gonna see how it does as well.

Curious if SK Hynix has a proprietary driver like the Solidgm. And, does the driver make any real difference in performance.

Kingston KC3000 4TB (gen4) is one of the fastest drives out there right now 7000/7000 R/W - not on this list? Used to be VERY expensive, but kingston getting super aggressive on pricing in the UK atm. If you're lucky enough to read this in September: I just bought the 4TB from amazon for £235 !!!!

cuz right now it is not one of the fastest. KC3000 uses the old E18 Phison controller. The only SK hynix competitors at gen4 are Crucial t500, Samsung 990 pro and WD SN850x

​​@@talha0139 The Kingston easily beats the Crucial P310 and the Solidigm P44 ... Heck, the Crucial P310 doesn't even have a DRAM cache! EDIT: I did some research and the Phison E18 is the fastest gen 4 NVMe controller you can get! Everything else faster is gen 5 buddy.
