It’s kinda funny, because there’s a way to turn this movie on it’s ear with one simple question. And it’s one I’ve thought about a bit just because it adds something just a *bit* deeper to the whole thing. Is there one final test to become a Dragon Warrior, that only Master Oogway knew about but NOT Master Shifu, where the candidate *is told they can’t be the Dragon Warrior?* See, there’s some philosophical stuff on how to see if someone’s a good person like, “Any man can handle adversity, but if you really want to test his character, give him power” (-Abraham Lincoln) and in a similar vein to that, seeing how a person deals with rejection is also a BIG indicator of their morality. Hell, there’s a rule in Judaism that anyone who tries to convert and become a Jew that they are ALWAYS told “No” the first time they ask, for pretty much that exact reason. I like the idea that Oogway saw how Shifu was building Tai Lung up and used “Sensed Darkness” as an excuse to say no when Oogway was SUPPOSED to turn Tai Lung down from the outset, and if Shifu knew Tai Lung was going to get rejected as part of the test, he would have prepped Tai Lung beforehand and completely ruined the point of the test. And, well…look what happened, lol. Tai Lung went on a rampage had to be locked up. …wow. I just realized Tai Lung’s rampage basically parallels the redheaded incel in Megamind when _he_ got rejected, lol. Anyway, Tai Lung proved he wasn’t worthy of being the Dragon Warrior because the first time he was told no, he threw a temper tantrum. While Po was told he’d never be the Dragon Warrior and threw everything into training himself even harder to prove he could be. Po went, “F-k the haters”. And Tai Lung BECAME a hater. I just find that concept REALLY interesting.

Tai lung got done so dirty. And he even beat po and got the scroll too. Imagine working your whole life to be the dragon warrior with your sensei hyping you up the whole time just to be denied then locked up for 20 years only to finally get the scroll and realize it was blank. If I were tai lung I would have begged for death at that point lol.
