It's because most people upgrade their alternator to get the most out of the amp at 14v you will probably get around 500watts either way awesome amp

looks and tests really nice, and at 6.5" i could fit 2 of them on my back wall (16.5" overall limit on height, silverado extended cab). The issue is that rear fan venting if it's mounted against the carped wall.

Can I connect subwoofer in this amplifier? Most amplifiers say X-Over "HP- full - LP" crossover and in this it says " hp- full- LP/BP" and if I buy it, I'm afraid it will not work or work well the LP/BP with my subwoofer . In two channels (1-2) I want to connect my speakers and in another two (3-4) the subwoofer. Thks

Can skar answer my question plz. I have the same amp running 4 pax65 mids. I have the amp bridged using my front 2 door speakers on channels 1&2 n my rear door speakers on channels 3&4. With my stock head unit 2014 chevy 1500 screen. After I turn the radio up to 3 quarters the amp goes to protect mode n the amp is on fire. Ready ready hot. It has about 3/4 to an inch of breathing room between the amp and the MDF wood that its Mounted on. Skar help out. Amp isnt a yr old and it's been doing this since I got it. Thanks

David Castillo if you have the 4 ohm pax65’s then you have it bridged at 2ohms . it can only be bridged at 4ohms ... and to be sure , do you have it hooked up to channel 1 positive and channel 2 negative? if so ohm load is too low

Yes , but you will get less power but cleaner more efficient power . You also will put less strain on the amp . You can always go With higher ohms ,but not below 2 ohms non bridged Or 4 ohms bridged .

Bridge the amp to 2 channels and run your horns in parallel giving you 2x500w @4ohms

@@stevenrendon98 You'd have to do a KZbin search on 'speaker impedance' or 'how to connect speakers in parallel' because it's mostly math and it's not easy to explain in words. It would be easier to understand with video.

@@stevenrendon98 Also, amplifiers put out more power with lower impedance (ohms) speakers. For example, the RP-150.4 amplifier does 150 watts x4 if you use 4 ohm speakers or 250 watts x4 if you use 2 ohm speakers. Below 2 ohms can cause damage to this amp but some can deliver huge power at 0.5 ohms.

because you need to load all channels when dynoing to get a realistic number. WAYY too many manufactures with this smd dyno only show 2 out of the 4 channels loaded which is not a real number unless you plan on only using 2 out of the 4 channels. By bridging 1-2, 3-4 you are stressing the whole power supply section of amp

Exactly. Why not just hook up channels 1/2 run the test at 1KHZ then hook up 3/4. Not too many people buy a 4 channel amp just to bridge it for bass.

@@jasonneal they are trying to load down all channels to simulate real world conditions.. Not many people buy a 4 channel amp and jus run channels 1&2 and not 3&4 You take the bridge numbers and divide in half... If it puts out 300x1 watts bridged into 8ohms that's the same as 150watts x2 at 4ohms on each channel. Also just because its bridged dont mean its for bass... You bridge it to your mids...

Bobdodge yes, I’ve seen some systems that has bridge for mids or center channel, but the dyno isn’t real world numbers unless your running for SPL at 40HZ. The dyno is just to show the most the amp can possibly put out. Running music fluctuate amplifier impedance loads. I’ve seen amps made for bass do well at 40-60 hz but struggled to produce a clean sine wave below 40HZ. Playing much higher frequencies the amp uses less amperage because the impedance load rises. So taking a 4 channel amp that mainly sells as a mids/highs amp should be tested running 1kHZ in stereo mode rather than bidged and playing 40HZ. I’ve seen 2 channel amps that produce 100 watts per channel at 4ohms and then 500 watts bidged at 4 ohms. Back in the 90’s they were called cheater amps. High Current amps. USAMPS were known for doing that.

In fact im still running my mtx thunders from 94.. These are not the cheater HO,s but do well above rated.
