what sets @Legend apart from others is the consistency. The knife edge balance between not repeating old news, but still flying with new, always updated and relevant information is an achievement like no other. Not repeating old news is tough for content creators that want to appeal to new watchers and at the same time present a depth and consistency to appeal to our old timers.

I just started a new campaign with Skarsnik, I RUSHED to the dwarf province in order to kick the Bloddy Spear ass and then I sold the settlement of this region to Thorgrim... and a few moment later I became allied with him ! SKARSNIK WARLORD OF LOVE ! (and Eight Peaks of course)

yep, that's the power of trade settlements. i did the same with throgg in my katarin campaign. just let him have all of that northern territory so i can focus on expanding south. you don't get devotion as much since you're not fighting chaos, but at least she can generate it from frost maiden actions. plus fighting in norsca and the chaos wastes is just a slog.

I would say 'mushroom addicted' trait can make your gobbos free for Skarsnik armies, not just one, but for multiple. Imagine 2-3 stacks of nasty skulkers by turn 30 or so. New save character mechanic is very useful for that strategy

That's definitely a good plan. My Skaven faction of choice is Tretch, because he is my ideal of a skaven leader, and I can't wait to be the anti-hero, kicking greenskin, chaos dwarf, and chaos ass from the old world to Cathay! :D

Legend is the best there is at what he does and he is both informative and amusing while doing so! He has only improved over time and I make a point to never miss his videos even though I don't play the game very much anymore. Like WOT and Quicky Baby or WOWS and Jingles. Not to be missed even if one has contrary opinions on TW Games (I love imperfect 'Empire' for it's scale and naval aspects! It's biggest flaw IMHO is the OP Marathas, who should not be crushing the Mughals in 15 years and launching full scale invasions of me in Europe 1720! Even on very hard!)

No doubt SEGA/CA owes him more then they realize. As a Total War fan I was such I noob frustrated and almost regretting getting WH2 until I watched Legend's content and was astounded at how he made it all make sense and for him at least easy even in impossible situations. Needless to say a few years later now the only DLC I don't have is the Chaos Dwarves coming next month. Legend is the man the lord of Cheese.

Skarsnik is fun for doing a no orcs run. You can spam out these goblin stacks super fast and because of how cheap they are you can toss in more units like trolls, pump wagons, etc while still having a ton of armies. You just outnumber all your enemies and beat them with spam!

I love Skarsnik, in WH2 he was my favorite LL of one of my favorite races to play. I was shocked at how much easier his campaign is in WH3 with the new position and I play on VH. One thing you didn't mention but is worth knowing: when dealing with Ungrim in the early game, something that makes a huuuuuge difference and, in fact, makes it a breeze is confederating Azhag. That and just spam the Mushroom Addicted trait with every lord or hero you can, you can get swarms of gobbos for close to free combined with his faction trait. Makes for an early game snowball that can get absolutely wild, even on VH difficulty.

I've found that Wurzag usually does well early on, which allows you to get a ton of territory after beating Thorgrimm, allowing you to get Eight Peaks very early

Skarsnik is my favorite greenskin lord, his night hoppers get bonuses from both of his techs/abilities which can make them very strong because they boost both hoppers AND night goblins. He's not a good lord on his own but his abilities boost his goblin horde in a massive way. He also cuts cost of goblins which when combined with other lords or techs can give you free armies. While limited he is my pick for a gobbo numbers focused game

Yeah, I played him in WH1. I was strugling sooo much, until some orc (do not remember who it was) who owned half of badlands confederated with me. From that point it was snowball. I have no idea why they confederated tho, I had two minor settlements and one army, they had everything. :D

Something that is extremely important to remember here (unless I’m remembering it wrong, in which case please correct me) is that Skarsnik can recruit orcs ONLY at Eight Peaks. You don’t unlock something globally, you just get access to a uniue building chain that allows you to recruit orcs. This makes recruiting orcs a huge pain in the ass, especially as you start to expand away from Eight Peaks, you’ll be using mostly goblin armies for your entire campaign

@@darkfool2000 yeah I think you can get a lot playing as green skins. Requires tier 4 building but it’s possible if I remember correctly. But why pay for it and you will always have to wait since you can’t reduce global recruitment time as snarsnik for orca that I know of anyways.

@@travisspicer5514 the beyond countin rech reduces global recruitment time for all units by 1 turn. Once you research that, most greenskin units can be recruited globally in 1 turn. The exceptions are obviously the black orcs, doom divers, arachnarok spiders, and stone trolls.

Bonus vs Infantry. Greenskin battles shouldn't last too long since you should always have a numbers advantage so vigor doesn't matter much

To be fair, comments are like 75% about 'do this or that Lord next' instead of any relevant information as well. He will literally do all of them, people just cant wait a week or few. On the other hand, I also noticed videos started to get a few minutes longer after he was incorporating the 'Dark elf rework sucks' into every DE lord review.

I like Skarsnik, but he's most fun to play as a confederated lord when playing Grom the Paunch. Grom's bonuses from his cauldron buff Skarsnik's units very well.

My favourite IE faction right here... undervalued because of how much he sucked in WH1 & 2, you can slap Thorgrims beard off in the first dozen turns if you play your cards right, and the whole game is so unique and fun. With his Goblin unit cost reduction you can just about field one army per province, so you won't have to worry about being taken by surprise and you can easily have 3 stacks fighting your enemies and still have a home guard

I feel like Skarsnik should have been able to recruit the Goblin and Squig units from the Whaaaa! pool normally end then just get Orcs from the Whaaa! instead. Maybe better scrap upgrades for Gobbos while we're at it.

@LegendofTotalWar Hey, something happened recently in a Eltharion campaign of mine. One of my armies randomly gained 3 units of Spawn of Tzeentch! No idea how. Also, Couronne, who were destroyed from the campaign for about 35 - 50 turns, came back with Louen, a city, and 2 armies. Can you explain how?

Did you encounter Tzeentch? as in the faction in South Chaos Wastes? That's a mechanic that Tzeentch Faction does they can add Chaos Spawn to any army. How Louen came back, could either be rebellion that caused Louen to come back im not sure if thats possible or it could be related to Tzeentch.

As the Tzeentch faction you can summon chaos spawns in any armies you desire to, for example it can be used to save an AI faction/army to your schemes or you could use it on your own army to bolster it against an imminent attack.

I am slightly conflicted about Skarsnik. At first I thought his campaign was going to be downright nightmarish. I was surprised, though. Goblins, especially with Skarsnik's enormous discount, are maybe the most cost-effective units in the entire game, and can be buffed to punch up immensely. Spamming Nasty Skulkers and Goblin Archers in the early game ensures you have an entire rogues' gallery of the shadiest , tricksiest gits to work with - they held up so magnificently against Dwarves! Then you start incorporating Shamans into every army. Their sweet combination of buffs and debuffs act as force multipliers for your gobbos. If you need more meat, you can easily grab some trolls and the excellent River Troll Hag heroes, who combine brawn with good traditional Lores of magic. I had absolute tons of fun. ...and yet... ...I felt strangled in the mid-late game. His Short Victory objectives are very punishing. You have to hold Karak-Eight-Peaks, AND wipe out Belegar AND Queek - both of whom are on complete opposite sides of the Old World, which forced me to overextend, which in turn eventually got my empire to crumble, as I couldn't keep up two offensive fronts AND defend Karak-Eight-Peaks AND deal with all the other factions coming out of the woodwork to declare war on me. I wonder what I did wrong.

I agree. This campaign hooked me with the strong start, but eventually found myself surrounded by enemies. I'll eventually play it again, but want to be more selective about who I choose to fight and when.

The upkeep reduction of Skarsnik is very 👌 and let's you get that green tide flowing from turn 1. Personally find him much more enjoyable than Grom for that reason

Skarsnik as greenskin starts go. It's one of the funniest / hardest things I done as green skins. When most of my time has been spent as Grom, the best times I had has Grom was migrating closer to the badlands. In fact I'd run up, snipe Skarsnik, then migrate to the badlands then let the left over places die. Grom's first army is easily double what Skarsnik's is but Skarsnik's start in 3 is so good. You can easily get 2 gold mines and semi easy to defend places, a faction that can easily pay for 2 armies even on legendary. My biggest struggles as Skarsnik was Taking warzag and trying to hold onto his lands. Pushed me #1 and everyone just wared with me. Scaven was the only ones I struggled with even with waghh forces, just because there is so many armies just tunneling all over being a pain in the ass, then after that plagues breaking out everywhere because undercity bullshit. I was playing vary risky with no outposts, just growth gold and the raiding building and I got punished hard. If I was taking it seriously you can just stand 3 armies around and defend yourself till you you can safely expand with out becoming #1 and waring the whole map.

The last time I played Skarsnik was in WH1 or 2, and I remember his garrisons also only containing gobbos. Did a testrun yesterday, and now there are also otcs which make them a lot easier to defend with.

Playing this campaign made me quit Warhammer 3 and go back to Warhammer 2, during my WAAGH 2 of my 4 WAAGH armies disappeared over the end turn with 0 explanation, that taught me that CA released a buggy mess and this issue has never been addressed or even acknowledged.

I think the difficulty of Skarsnik campaign is what made him unique to play. The whole "take 8 peaks" should be more fleshed out with like a tri-faction quest battle involving skars, Belegar and Queek Headtaker. Otherwise I don't ever feel the need to touch any of them.

I found snarsniks benefit from owning it to be insignificant. Belegar has a more impactful consequence from not owning it which makes sense since it is their ancestral home but clan mors had so much more benefit from owning it than snarsnik. Frenzy for any clanrat or stormvermin is +10 melee attack and weapon strength at the start of every battle for armies and garrisons. Really made the difference. Snarsnik was in comparison "yay you got it". Nothing else.

I feel Skarsnik has more personality as the sneaky, stabby, cunning Goblin type than Grom who basically just wants to eat and grow bigger. If you care about that sort of thing. I'm no greenskin player, Grom has a more fun mechanic with the cauldron, but I'm more drawn to Skarsnik, at least for now :)

after years of playing SFO i really dislike skarsnik's setllement garrisons. If he can't do orks, why are they defending him? Skarsnik was and still is my favourite greenskin lord but these garrisons really put me off ;/
