I always hated getting new skates when I was in shows! Never bothered me when I was competing, but as a pro it was a pain. I once had to go straight into rehearsals with new boots/blades, and my feet were cut to ribbons 😢. It was the old fashioned type leather skates with no padding like my Edeas, too. Ouchie! Hope you get used to your blade placement OK. The tiniest bit out just feels horrible, so I feel you! 💗 Love from Scotland 🏴💖⛸️

Do you get your boots heat molded to your feet? When I skated I got a pair like that and it was just like adjusting to new blades or freshly sharpened blades. Those boots lasted me about 4 years I believe (that's with skating every season 3x a week) but to be fair, i was mostly into skill set and dance vs jumping and spinning. I tried pairs for a little bit when I was younger but quickly realized it wasn't a good fit and never found a partner that matched me so I never went farther with it. My pair of skates after that were also heat molded and I actually still have them. I miss skating so much, due to some medical issues my body has changed a lot since then so getting back on the ice would feel very different for me now. I love watching you skate!

You cannot heat mold edeas. They aren't leather.
@budgetwithcam Жыл бұрын
@indiging8330 The only edeas that they don't heat mold are the tempo, wave, and motivo models. Overture, chorus, piano, flamenco ice, and concerto models all can get heat treated. So you can heat mold some edeas, I've always had concertos so mine always got heat molded. I'm not sure what model she has but if it's one of the ones named above that can get molded, then I don't see why not.

could you please explain me the meaning of the colours of your skates? is it a cruise ship thing or a professional ice skater thing or something else? i noticed woman wear tan and men black, but why are the skates white when you buy them (like: can't you buy tan skates from the start?)
@julietaylor6080 Жыл бұрын
Do skate boots come in the nude /tan color? Can't you buy them that way instead of having to always paint them? I could feel your nervousness! You did look great from a spectators standpoint. I'm worried for you about sore feet and blisters. Saying prayers that you can get past that part quickly. I love your channel so much. I keep looking for your next video all the time. I'm so excited that your bf will be on this next contract with you!!! We just booked a cruise on explorer but it's not until 2025 and I'm sure you will be long gone by then. Thank you for bringing us all into the magic with you.
@lindatannock Жыл бұрын
Edea skates don't come in tan, unfortunately! Not sure why they don't make them. There are quite a few boot brands that do though. Back when I was in shows (a long time ago) there was only 1 American company that made tan boots (I'm in the UK), so I always had to paint mine as well. It was a pain, but at least with spray paint it's quick to do. ⛸️🏴

Just a suggestion. When I buy new shoes, to break them in, I take a mallet and beat them. First taught this by a ballerina who had to break in her toe shoes before a performance. It should also works on skate boots, and help quickly break them in.
@karbear26 Жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea!
@indiging8330 Жыл бұрын
lmao stupidest idea I've heard this year
@Wenderzs1 Жыл бұрын
This probably wouldn't help with figure skates. They are several layers thick, particularly around the ankle to protect the ankle from breaking. It's the inside layers that touch your foot/ankle where it's most uncomfortable during the break-in period until body heat, moisture and time molds those inner layers around your ankle bones. I used to walk around my house with hot, wet socks on inside my skates to soften the leather on the inside. It felt awful, but it works.
@indiging83308 ай бұрын
terrible idea, you get new skates because you need the support and stiffness. To beat the stiffness out of them is going to break them down quicker, not break them in.
