How to save money on skating: *Buy things on sale* Who would’ve thought?...
@sasproductions701
@sasproductions701 4 жыл бұрын
buy things on sale? do u know why there on sale? because there shit and wear down quick and nobody likes the style of them. if it was a shoe that lasted it would be high price. its not rocket science. nike solarcheck cheap as fuck £35 wow! cheap-o suede canvas crap. compared to the good quality suede. i had the es swift which were like £70 or more, then couple weeks later the price dropped and i noticed the bottom of the shoe wore down quick with the way i walk putting heel down first. ive got nike sb dunk highs truck it and they have not worn down on the bottom like them fuckers did. i seen a guy yesterday with new vans that have proper rubber round the front, after skating new board the white rubber was wearing away.

How to save money while skateboarding: 1) Deck - Buy the generic team deck. 2) Trucks - Buy from a reputable company, but don't buy the signature model. 3) Wheels - Don't buy the signature model, buy the generic one. 4) Bearings - buy from a reputable company, but don't buy their most expensive model. 5) Shoes - buy the cheapest shoe you can find. They all rip the same way.

I remember what I did to save money on shoes back in the 90's was an ollie pad. It was basically a piece of leather you would add to the shoe that would do all the kicking movements. The companies that sold these pads were pricey, but if you went to goodwill or somewhere you can get fabrics, you could just cut your own out and put it on the shoe. It made my shoes last a very long time.

UNLESS YOURE SPONSORED THIS IS MY GUIDE TO A BUDGET: DOs: buy from local skateshop cuz they are more likely to give you a deal buy blank skateboards making sure the nose and tail are as close to interchangeable as possible so you can switch when one gets worn buy shoes with rubber guards; as many guards as possible because shoes are going to get torn up and you want more there to stop that as much as possible (shoe goo use can replace that guard too) buy GOOD bearings because they dont last regardless; water, angry slamming, and use will kill them BUT keep them lubed (recommend lube made for small bearings) buy independent trucks until youre sponsored (can grind for eternity plus theyre heavy so they help to strengthen muscles thus height on other trucks); use other trucks @ competitions unless sponsored.. buy bigger wheels so they last ( i recommend spitfire classics); i personally love the dual design sides and shape which is important cuz you need to rotate the wheels every so often (inside becomes outside) buy generic grip tape because name brands are pricey and unneeded.. buy generic hardware because name brand is pricey and unneeded.. DONTs: dont pay for a skatepark membership; the world is your playground dont buy clothing.. only wear it if they pay you.. go to a goodwill.. dont listen to sponsors tell you what tricks you should do ( it cost me my knee and i can no longer skateboard ) hope this helps you and happy skating..

I've skated Vans Sk8-Hi Pros and Vans 112 Pros and honestly was not at all impressed with the durability. Especially the Sk8-Hi Pro had major damage within three days. I'd recommend any of the Es cupsole shoes, like the Es Swift 1.5 or the Es Accel OGs. _Definitely_ amongst the most durable out there. Oh and Shoe Goo is a good idea for any shoe.

@@MrTaitanz Well, it really is not a brand thing. I have already skated Emerica, Vans, Es, Decathlon Oxelo, Etnies shoes and probably will try out some more eventually. None of the Vans were durable. As in, at all, despite being Pros and meant for skating. In comparison the Emerica ones were better, but I'm not sure I liked skating them. Comfortable, but not very precise with skating. Etnies was fine, but didn't fit great. Es is super comfortable and a puffy shoe and I really do like that. Also, easily the most durable shoe I had so far. Ironically, the Decathlon Oxelo Crush 500 I had are amongst the most durable shoes I owned too, as less than $40. I will have to try DC sometime, but probably will get some Swift 1.5 Es shoes next. edit: Forgot I also tried Converse shoes, those were overall pretty similar to Vans, but I had canvas shoes and those just destroyed themselves way too quickly. The rubber-suede type ones probably last way longer, but haven't skated those yet. Oh and I did not like the insoles. Vans UltraCush HD is like a million times better, even when still not perfect.
@MrTaitanz
@MrTaitanz 4 жыл бұрын
@@PHeMoX man I have to be honest, I've never had a pair of Emerica or Oxelo shoes so I couldn't tell. But that's a good experience since the first and last time I had some Es shoes was more than 10 years ago, as I've said I honestly been faithful to DC hah, a couple of Vans, Airwalk back in the day, Volcom, Nike sb, Adidas, I tried Supra once (never again they are real comfortable buy they suck for skating, first session in and they already had holes, I don't know if that's particular to the model tho), but yeah, DC has been good for me and I've grown used to them, you know, them bulky ass shoes

Simple solution: thrifted board and throw in some bones reds. Managed to find some decent decks doing this. Another pro tip: fidget spinner bearings. One of the best ways to save money would be purchasing a blank deck. Blank decks are usually $20-$30, much cheaper than decks that has graphics. Boards chip/snap eventually so I usually just use blank decks. For trucks I’d say stick to thunders or independents, usually they cost about $40-$50. Wheels it’s probably good to invest a little money for since cheap wheels get flat spots much sooner. Probably good to stick to bones STF usually they cost about $30. For bearings I’d say the most affordable ones with good quality would be bones reds ABEC7. Those bearings are $15, very cheap! And they’ll get the job done. For shoes it’s good to go to Ross and TJ maxx. I usually find a pair of Nike SB for $15-$20. Sometimes a pair of DCs for the same price too if I get lucky. Skate shoes rip over period of time anyways 🤷🏽‍♂️. If you wanna save though or not spend too much money you can’t be picky but I know that we have personal preference.

Speaking of saving your shoes, that rubber grip tape stuff is pretty tight. I can for sure tell the difference between sandpaper and the rubber compound, but it took about half an hour to get used to and after that it feels solid. I saw a bunch of skate youtubers saying it would only be good for kids, but its good for cheapskates too. Just don't step in a puddle or you're screwed.

Yeah, there's no point in gluing the shoes when there's already a hole. Especially the harder shoe goo stuff or super glue trick will allow you to get a strong surface that can be skated pretty long before it is gone. It's cheaper to buy some new glue than buying new shoes, so be smart. Just add glue on day one. The nose, kickflip spot and ollie spot will wear most. Maybe add glue to the heelflip spot too. But ideally those spots should be pretty much the same for any shoe. Oh and maybe put some glue around the lowest lace holes, it'll prevent ripping laces early.

if you are a beginner, follow the tips in this video and the comment section.BUT most important build a legacy with your local skateshop and the guys at the skatepark.DON'T buy on internet, sometimes you can find a good price, but in the long run, it's much better the shop for many reasons, for example, I buy to the same shop for 20 years(I'm 32), and they help me a lot through the time, and also they help the senior's skater to build the skatepark and made events. the guys at the skatepark always have old parts that they can give you for free or for cheap, I also recommend, when you change your set up you can recycle the nuts, bolt and the bearings, when you grip your deck save the remaining grip, after 4\5 times you have enough grip for a deck, another tip it's to buy at least 2 times the same type of trucks, you can recycle the baseplate, bushing, and the kingpins. if you don't have money for a new pair of trucks and the kingpins touch, when you grind, use a hose for filing it. I hope that this comment can help somebody.

I have a good tip for your shoes. I skate my older vans and as i first tryed to do tricks i noticed that they got holes. I simply cut off a piece of an old belt and glued a stripe along on the right shoe so now as i skate the leather of the beld gets sanded down and as it is sanded down i just glue another layer on it and it is as good as new. If you do it right it won’t even look bad. My sole is not sanded down but you can also use a piece of an old bycicle wheel and glue it on it and can add another layer if its worn down.

For beginners, I recommend oxelo. It's a cheap brand with pretty decent stuff. On the last few years they've been improving the quality of their boards (they sell'em full like board trucks and all). But I think their shoes are like the best part. I bought a pair 3 years ago and it broke recently (when I mean broke there's hole on every possible part of it). So yeah quite good , they do sales too

1. Bearings If you need to replace one or two bearings, you dont need to buy one set of bearing. Just go to the hardware store or machinery shop and ask 608 size. Its more cheaper than buy a whole set. Clean the grease with oil remover 2. Shoes Use glue gun on ollie area. It might lil bit messy but more you skate, more smooth the area would be

Mini logo bearings, mini logo wheels (C cuts), tensor alloy trucks, bulk buy blank decks. Suede skateshoes - skate them for a day to check out your wear spots, then put some gorilla tape on those spots, it'll keep them alive a lot longer. Get a pair of footprint painkiller socks, cut out the shin pad, throw away the sock and just slide the pad into whatever socks you are wearing .👍

Also, if u feel really mad, you can turn your board on the other side and then step on it,cuz if the griptape is facing you and u step on your board with a lot of force when you're mad you're gonna break it, and by turning it on the other side it prevents it from snapping

Hey guys not a pro skater but I definitely have tips for you that are not mentioned. 1: buy second hand shoes they don’t need to be skater shoes, a tennis shoe or just a flat bottom shoe that is not made of a net like material is good enough. 2: if possible buy the best trucks you can find or afford. I got my ventures trucks for almost a 100$ and they last already for two and a half years. 3: you don’t need your deck to be like a pro skater brand, get a deck without a print they tend to be cheaper. I know a deck without a print is kind of boring, but you can customise it yourself, and make it look more interesting. That’s it I hope it helps you and please enjoy skating and have fun!

The prices may not have went down in 30 years but they also have not went up in about that long as well. It has been extremely consistent making it easy for skaters to know what to expect when buying gear. Prices aren't really that outrageous anyways. Maybe for like a 6-13 year old coming up hard but if you got a job you should be able to afford skate gear.

skate stuff is really much cheaper in the US than here in Norway. Decks usually start on 80$ alone, a new custom complete without the most expensive trucks and bearings will leave you at about 300$ with discount. Shoes are usually from 90$ and up aswell. Insanely expensive to skate here, i usually just ducttape my shoes when they rip and skate with them till its no longer possible to get grip because of the tape lol
