@Brick Magma you’re probably ninja kicking which is when you kick your front leg out to much. Just flick it out a little bit and practice keeping your feet above the board. The hard part is being afraid to land on it and falling.. you just gotta get past that fear bro. You can do it.

@Brick Magma it’s not so much about leaning forward as it is not leaning to far forward or back wards. Even if you don’t flip the board all the way just practice landing on it even if you land on the graphic side. You might twist and sprain an ankle a few times but nobody said skating is painless lol

Getting my board this Saturday can't wait to eat the floor. Quick edit since everybody keeps asking. I got my board but I haven't gone outside to skate because I live in Arizona and if you Arizona is hot as frick. I haven't started yet but I started fingerboarding which I guess it can help me understand on how to do the tricks. Maybe next month thing are going to cool down hopefully down to 80 degrees maybe not but yeah. At this point I just want to go outside and not care about the heat but is kinda impossible cause I'm not used to the heat yet. :(

I’ll never forget the feeling of the first time I got the board clap. I had been begging my parents for months to go to Woodward for my high school graduation present and they finally broke down and agreed. When I went there I could do a bunch of flat ground tricks and grinds and slides but I still was having trouble doing anything down gaps. I just couldn’t get myself to commit. Long story short I worked my way up from first landing an Ollie down a 3 stair all the way to trying the 8 stair in the target plaza on the last day of camp. The plaza was packed and people were sessioning the stairs and the handrail and throwing down some crazy tricks. Tom Asta was there and he was doing some insane stuff and it really motivated me to land the Ollie. The whole group of guys there were all really good but they just kept hyping me up and giving me tips (Woodward is like that, everyone’s just there trying to improve at their own pace). I was trying to Ollie that stair set for over two hours, slamming onto concrete over and over again and it was really starting to hurt. I was bleeding all over and literally had tears coming out because I was so tired and in so much pain but I wasn’t gonna give up. I’ll never forget when Tom Asta gave me words of encouragement. He said “you’re right there, you’re landing on the board, just bend your knees and land it” and the next try I went and stomped it and the whole plaza exploded because at this point everyone was just watching me slam. Getting props on a trick like that from people who could do it first try was really special. It made me realize that everyone learns at their own pace but skaters will always give you props on a trick if it was a challenge for you. To most of them ollieing an 8 stair is no big deal but they could see how hard I was trying and how happy I was to land it. It was one of the best moments of my life so far

@@rubyb2183 I'm late, but get safety gear! At minimum a helmet, brain injuries are no joke, but it's also easy to break your wrists when you don't know how to fall. Ironically, safety gear often makes you less likely to fall because not committing to something often leads to falls.

This is my first year skating in my 30's and it's been pretty rough. I should have progressed a lot more by now but I would get to excited and try things I wasn't ready for, resulting in being injured most of the year so far. First time dropping in I broke my wrist and cracked my ribs and wrecked my shoulder. As soon as I healed I popped my big toe out of the socket. I decided to get more into freestyle tricks because it seems like a calmer approach to getting the hang of this. So far, it's totally working. I'm super confident riding now just practicing tictacs, monster walks, endovers and manuals. Definitely wear all the protective gear now
