This guy really understood how to teach a beginner. So happy I found this channel. Also, the Tail drop seems to be a really nice step to develop before trying to learn the Ollie for me, because I fail to slide the front foot into the nose. Loved the How to Bail, and Pro Tip sections. They really make a difference. Also, he is always talking about the head position for balance. Didn't see that thing being important in all the other channels. Thank you man!

I think the hippie jump is under rated because as soon as u get a skateboard u learn the Ollie but if u do hippie jumps as a beginner it will help you commit in future tricks so I’d say say hippie jumps then shove it’ is best before the Ollie

35 years old and skated daily most of my life until several knee and ankle surgeries kept me out of the game for around 10 years. Just bought a new board last week and been attempting to shred the park. Getting in some slash grinds and floating some hips but basically gotta start from the beginning. I have basically no balance anymore. Took a hard hip shot the other day and I am paying for it lol. Cool video series man. Hope there is something on here about skatepark etiquette, that doesn’t seem to be common practice anymore.

Your tips really helps a lot, I learn nose stall and half kick turn from you, others tricks are in progress, not much skate parks in Hong Kong. A few suggestion: 1. more on screen caption/description, sometimes when I practicing outdoor and want to re-watch your video for tips, I can't turn on the speaker. 2. more slow motion from different angle instead of talking scenes, the slow motion really helps a lot. Thanks much, man! Would you mind doing a video on old-school transition tricks sometime? I've been doing a lot of bert slides and just learned kiwi slides the other day, but would love to know more about cess slides, laybacks, and other old tricks from the pool era that people seem to not do as often.

Hey! First off, i just seen 4 of your videos and all are so far realy realy greath! One of the most important things i like is, that you allways also explain what to do if something went wrong; and... everyone who ever did stand on a skateboard know´s that anytime something could get wrong! - I would say Mr. Murphy from Murphys law was defently a skater!!! Awesome video as always JB, couldn't have come at a better time I got 3 days off work and it's looking dry so I'm gonna try and bash some of these out at the park. Loved that this was the first video I could try some intermediate variations and that is thanks to my improvement due to your videos so keep it up mate these are 24k solid gold. An idea for a feature in a video is how you.emntally get over the fear of things in skating. I'm currently struggling to mentally commit to my drop in even though I've dropped in on all the banks at my park.

Hey, congrats on this awesome new channel. I like your way of explaining, it's clear and straight forward. Could you maybe make an in depth video on tail stalls? (I saw your rock fakie/tail stall video but I would like more!) I can rock to fakie and fakie half cab (?) but I somehow can't wrap my brain around staying on my board when I approach the coping riding back. So annoying and sick of my bad habit of bailing!
@SkateparkLessons3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ingrid, I appreciate your kindness and support! For tail stalls, the secret is to learn them under the coping first! No matter how low on the ramp...Lean your head forward over your front foot when you push your tail back to tap it on the ramp and learn the timing of the stall and lean into your pump. KEEP YOUR HEAD FORWARD OVER YOUR FRONT FOOT! 😌More awesome videos coming soon for you and use the new playlists for lessons in order. Good stuff, I'm sure there's another video about wheel slide but that's one I'm always on kids about, especially that little Manny backside shifty a couple inches. It shows them how to unweight themselves which helps in pretty much everything but it's low commitment. I'll be recommending these to the groms but I've adding them to my own routine once I've had too many beers but I ain't done skating!

Good tips on the backside 360 kickturn. When I was skating in the 1980s, I could do 540 kickturns and once or twice back then, I accidentally did a 720 kickturn (I over-rotated.) I got back into skating recently and I'm finding it really tough to do a decent rotation with a kickturn (in terms of degrees.) A lot of the time, I have to put a lot of effort into doing a 180 kickturn and I'll only just manage. And sometimes, I'll come up short. At a skate park, Ive been trying 360 kickturns. I will have many attempts and usually, only one or two of those will be successful. Often, I'll rotate just a bit more than 180 degrees.

Question about hippie jumps; Ive watched this a bunch and you say to move your feet over the hardware bolts and do the hop, but Im struggling with keeping it under me when I land, like if I try to jump forward to where the board will be, it shoots back, and I have to be in an almost nollie position to do a hippie jump and land on my board. how do you tighten this up? anyway youre amazing! things are coming along; finding a good spot to learn in Vancouveris tricky cheers and thanks.
