So here we are.
Elmor and I are ready to push the Core i9-14900KF to its limit while Shamino and Bing manage the temperature with liquid helium. It is our final attempt at breaking the CPU Frequency World Record with the Core i9-14900KF Raptor Lake Refresh processor.
It's been a grueling and mentally exhausting week at the ASUS OC Event. Every result from last week's record attempt failed to validate at the CPU-Z database. That includes several scores that would've been the new CPU Frequency world record. Following that disappointment, the team spent the entire weekend until deep in the night trying to figure out the root cause of our problems.
But that's a long story I'll save for perhaps another video.
Today, so far, the best we could achieve was 9 GHz. Not bad, given it's only the second time a CPU passes the 9 GHz mark. But it falls short of our goal to break the world record with the 14900KF processor.
With the last liters of liquid helium, we go for one final attempt.

It's like the land speed record: the CPU is doing something incredibly fast (9000 MHz = 9 billion clock cycles per second) but what it's doing (creating a validation file) serves little purpose beyond measuring the speed.

You could just imagine what Intel could do if they switch over to 5nm or even 4 or 3nm procces... they are neck and neck with AMD that uses TSMC's 5nm procces but Intel is still rocking with 10nm. If they can match AMD with 10nm, just imagine what they could do with 5 or 4nm

I thought my 6ghz 13600k was a big feat but this is mental. Is there anything specific for why you chose a kf instead of the k? Does the kf have a better bin or spu or something to deem it a better candidate
@TheQuentincc
@TheQuentincc 11 ай бұрын
I believe good 14900K are kept aside for future 14900KS sku, there is no "KFS" so KF CPU can have mental core/IMC but a defective HD graphics (which is required for KS CPU)
@iDeparture
@iDeparture 11 ай бұрын
@TheQuentincc, the only difference between a K and kf skew is the on board video is disabled on the kf. Cheaper and if you oc especially pushing cores to this level its one less potential variable you have to worrying about. I (like most people) don't use other igpu and it's 30-50 bucks less so no point imo to spend money more money for nothing. And idk what this other comment was saying but a KS I just pre binned cores k isna kf and if they wanted could turn the on board graphics back on and its a k. Kf still ive graphic on the chip its just not enabled. KS is also have a silicon lotto within the deemed KS skews and can absolutely trash talked to some guy for an ex and his KS was terrible I couldn't even hit an allcore oc then most k and kf skews can so he was going to already but I Said return or read it bc that absurd. Aslo the memory controllers aren't binned just the cores which I think is retarded but they don't so you could have really good silicon but then wanna go oc your hynix a or m die and then find that the imc is dog shit.
