For a daily trainer Seth said go with the Novablast 2 and for a cushioned long run shoe go with the MaxRoad 5 Depending on your needs and other shoes you have I think both could could be a daily trainer with the Novablast having the slight edge and being more versatile but for being light weight and value the MaxRoad 5 might be a good choice.

Kudos to you for reviewing the Skechers brand. More kudos to you for pointing out the hype in the Hoka brand and pointing out their lack of any real and substantial proprietary cushioning. They're charging a butt load for regular EVA, versus all the other brands (even Skechers), who are offering innovation and tech.

QD - Atreyu The Artist, I know you don’t like training in carbon shoes, but the plate doesn’t feel overly aggressive are firm. The midsole is soft and responsive and I think the upper is very comfortable for how unstructured it is. If you are a runner who needs support in the upper, I wouldn’t recommend. But for me Atreyu has made a fantastic shoe for a price point of $100, can’t beat it. I preordered my 2nd pair day 1 preorders opened up.

QD: Torrin 4.5 plush is my go to shoe; even with 600 miles on them currently. It's lightweight and has great stability through my gait process. I agree with you on adding a couple more mm in the heel..I always add the heel 1/2 of a nike insole under any insole of any shoe with less than 5mm drop..it makes all of them run faster with less effort..inversely any shoe with 10mm or more drop starts causing knee and hip issues..8mm drop seems to be the sweet spot in all the shoes I use ,which is pretty much all of them..good review as always 👍

Skechers has become my favorite running shoe brand thanks to the Razor Excess and the Max Road 5! Go to long run shoe is a tie between peg turbo 2 and endorphin speed 1 as I am not just doing LSD long runs every time - mostly to get these shoes to 400-500 miles before I break in all the new shoes I’ve acquired the last few months (tc elite 1, endorphin speed v1 on sale, rebel 2 and novablast 2

Love it. Used Hoka for years and have wide feet so have to go up a size. Want to go and try these. do you think if I go up 1/2 size, it will be good for wider foot. Keep up the great work

QD: Novablast. I got a pair because of the trampoline effect. But they're perfect for long runs too and compared to others shoes my legs after more than 20 km are fresh and ok like never before. Waiting for the version 2!

I have both the Rincon 1 and maxroad4, I ran both to the ground. The hyperburst midsole is way more responsive in my experience

@@chadliu86 hey, the 4 is on sale right now! Would you recommended getting this one or the 5?

@@ALAA-ch2un I am interested in trying the 5 for the higher stack and the H plate. The 4 can get the job done for sure. The upper of the 4 gets a lot of complaints, which I agree but does not bother me too much, it does get hot in warm weather. The heel counter was rubbing my heel in the beginning but good socks solved the problem. One complaint i have is as the midsole gets compressed overtime, the rocker on the right shoe will push on the tendon behind my big toe near the mid foot when I am running on a slope, which I think is specific to me since it only happens to my right foot. Conclusion if money is a issue, get the 4 and wait till the 5 goes on sale.

QOD: I'm training for an ultra so most of my long runs are on the trail in the EVO Speedgoat. But my road long runs were done in the Carbon X2 on faster long run days with some marathon pace worked in, and on the long easy days in the Clifton 7. Looks like I'm going to need to make some changes now since the Clifton 8 seems to be a miss.

qd: more v3 cause easy on the feet on long distances. shoe definitely has some bounce. drawback is that it's a little heavy but it doesn't run heavy because of the energy return

QD: For me my long (and slow!) run shoe is the much maligned (by Seth) Hoka Clifton 8’s haha! For me at least, at 185lbs, it just gives me the type of responsive bounce that I like while still being super lightweight all things considered. LOVE my More V3’s for easy slow & long days but they’re just a bit too heavy and not as responsive as the Clifton 8’s.

Not quite ready for long runs. Slowly building up for them. Recently picked up running after many years of weight training. Currently running with the 1080v11 and just bout a pair of the endorphin speed after the price went down 👍👍

Seth, the older maxroad had complaints that people could feel the pods underfoot. I bet the plate is their way to prevent that.

QD: My Novablast has worn out and I had intended to replace with the Ultraboost but returned those after one run. I thought the weight would be ok but the midfoot cage gave me blisters on the medial part of both feet! Thanks for making this video though Seth, I forgot that I had an unused Max Road 4 on the shelf and it appears very similar to the 5 so looks like I have a new candidate!

Another great review; thank you. I wondered what that duck meant at one point in the video when the plate is mentioned. After my posts on Reddit, I think he's referring to the sound of the sole on an apartment floor that resembles the sound of the highlighted animal's cry. :)

Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner! The Max Road line seems to be Skechers best line. The Mach 4 is still taking the cake at 8.72 but I have always wanted to get my casual, dress, walking, and running shoes all from Skechers as a one stop shop. The GoRun Ride 9 is a solid daily trainer though not a homerun judging from your review. The Razor line is the most confusing. They need to do less iterations/types and focus. Kofuzi remarked that line annoys him! Too many Razors is causing razor burn. Please, please Skechers get your shoes into retail at least at your very own retail outlets (which you do not!!!) I wish they would get into running stores so I can support my local running shoe store with that brand.

Love your channel, reviews, and loved the Pike’s Peak win! I have to disagree on this review and say that the cushion is not nearly as good as the Clifton 8’s. I bought the Sketchers and sent them right back, did not like the cushion. I love my Hoka EVO Speedgoat, normal Speedgoats, and Altra Olympus for trail and Clifton and Elevons.
