Over 400 miles on mine, and the midsole is still lovely. Great long run shoe. If you have a wide-ish foot like me, go true to size. No issues.

Almost 300 miles on mine, and going strong! Love this shoe. I have slightly wide feet and it works for me (true to size). Perfect daily trainer, long run, and tempo shoe. Lightweight even for my size 13.

I absolutely love em! Got 96 miles so far and the shoes are holding up and performing like day 1. Did all 12 long runs of my winter HM training plan in Chicago in some of the coldest weather in preperation for the F^3 HM and just started again another one with them. There is something to be said about the performance and how resilient this foam is and unaffected in these cold temps. Add to that, that there is nothing out there in that stack height, so lightweight and with such great and effortless transition. Closest thing in stack height midsole feel and geometry is Saucony speeds and brooks aurora which I sold for having poor transition) and both cost alot more. Definetely amongst some of the best long run trainers out there along with speeds and fuelcell TC but cheaper than both!

I appreciate your comment regarding the hotspot on the medial side of your foot. I am kind of a supinator and got massive blisters on the medial side/arch area of both feet in the Maxroad 4. Guess that issue hasn't been fixed. You provide the best reviews!

I am a Skechers fan from the word "Go!" I am wearing my Max Road 5's right now 🙂 I am in the minority. Not a single person in my local clubs runs in Skechers or even know of the brand because they are not in retail running shoe stores or even in many of their own retail outlets!!! I do not say they are always my #1 pick but they are solid most of the time. The Max Road 5 took the bronze last year for my daily trainers. #1 ASICS Novoblast 2, #2 Hoka Mach 4. I like your new approach to reviews. I am uninterested in "the drop" etc. I want to know how it rides and what the comfort level is. Thanks for the review. Seth loves the Max Road 5 too. Ko is a Skechers hater. Haha! He is yet to review the shoe but says he will.

I think it’s more than a bit of overreach to label Kofuzi “a Skechers hater”, @Ray Sollars. All the shoe-tubers have limited ability to review every shoe, or even every brand. How many reviews do you need to reinforce your own conviction that they work great for you? If Seth and Emily don’t do it for you, you can find many other reviews of any given shoe. I remember Kofuzi getting accused of hating Nike because he was turned off by their shabby treatment of female athletes (such as Mary Cain). He fully explained the principle of it in a video, but eventually went back and has reviewed Nike shoes and even apparel. Yet, some commenters continued to label him a Nike hater because, eg, he doesn’t have the Alphafly in hand to include in some super shoe comparisons. C’mon! Neither Seth nor Emily review every shoe or brand either.

Hi Ray, even if meant as a joke, saying that a very neutral, fair shoe reviewer (who does this as part of his living) hates a brand is just not funny. The Altra Torin was one of my all-time favorite shoes and Ko just didn’t understand the shoe. He actually probably DID hate it, but said that the shoe doesn’t agree with him.

I think , and I could be wrong, hyper burst can be tweaked by adding the size of the bubbles to the foam i.e bigger bubbles, Skechers calls them cells, the foam tends to be softer, on the other hand, smaller condensed bubbles the foam tends to be firmer. Probably explains why all my Skechers feel different.

I was actually thinking that for your gait, it didn't look like you were overpronating too much. I was hoping the H plate might provide more medial/lateral stability. I guess I'll keep looking for my next long run shoe, which is neutral with a touch of stability. Or maybe I need to find more firm shoes....but in this current market, where every company thinks people NEED super cushion, I think it's causing a lot of normally neutral runners to develop stability issues. :/

Agree with Andy Wright - Skechers seem uninterested in the UK running market. Guess I’ll stick with my Nike Invincibles for my long easy runs and the Saucony Endorphin Speeds when I want to pick up the pace on the longer stuff (like today!}

The Novablast 2 gave me backache - haven’t figured out why. Love the Invincibles but can’t comment on Max Road 5 because the UK doesn’t exist to Skechers (not for running performance shoes anyway)

My heel slips off on this shoe ...maybe a little more tall structure on heel area could solve this problem .

Love the max4, looking to get the 5. Absolutely agree on the design. I think Skechers needs to hire a new artist/designer for the look of the shoe. Looks so bland

I have 132 miles in the Max Road 5. Foam is still as fresh as when new, and doesn't bottom out in longer runs. The Goodyear rubber is wearing a little, but still has tacky grippiness. My feet feel a little tired after longer runs due i think to how loosey-goosey neutral these are. But my legs feel fresh because the cushion is great and doesn't degrade like other EVA foams. Upper kinda sucks. I got a big blister on medial side of big toe one time while running faster on a treadmill one day. I think this shoe runs a bit hot, and the edge of the insole right at the big toe feels like there is a seam in there that caused the blister. Running in cold weather outside with these sites I haven't had hot spot problems. Ymmv

Have these X 2 in my rotation. Just did a 20 mile LR @ 8:30 pacing in these. Just a dream to run in and a definite improvement over the previous model. Still a little room for improvement in the upper IMO (especially for summer running in the south) but the weight, cushion and price make this shoe tough to compete with!

Not a big brand (performance division) in Canada. And not cheap either... most are in excess of $200 CDN ($160 U$); and that's at the low end.

I’ve even written to them asking when we’re likely to get some here especially the max road 5 but no reply. Still never mind just gone through 150 miles in my triumph 19’s are they get better and better. Ian 🇬🇧

i would probably pick invincible if it wasnt so unstable. it doesnt work for my overpronation but i love the shoe. I think I like the MaxRoad 5 over the Novablast though.

RIP Payless. So many shoes growing up from there, they shod millions of us when we were poor. Kinda sad they're gone. I'm more of a Bridgetsone guy these days. Have the 80k Mile tires and they're legit.

Does it spill inward as bad as the Novablast 1? HATED how unstable that shoe was. I LOVED the MaxRoad 3, but the new route Skechers took, I didn't even try on the MaxRoad 4. Is this diff than the 4? ty

I like this shoe but it gives me hot spots on my toes for some reason also I can’t pick up the pace in them for some reason. Maybe I only grab them after a hard tempo day and that’s why but I can’t go much faster than 9 mins per mile in them. That said they’re very comfortable and I even use them as a walking shoe for family/ dog walks

Hyperburst is a mystery to me. I have two pairs of the GRR 8’s, the blue ones are firm, while the black ones are more cushioned, magic on the feet. The Ride 9’s were like bricks with laces, returned them to Running Warehouse.

Agree. Loved the GRR7, 8 felt heavy but are incredibly durable. Didn't go for the 9 cuz I read a number of bad reviews. Skechers has slipped in the highly competitive world of running shoes

Maxroad 5 is much prettier compared to the Maxroad 4 by a long mile… it’s a great daily trainer. Only negative for me is the outsole pods are wearing out fast after 100 miles and after 200 miles you are just running on the foam. They need to paid Goodyear more money for thicker pods… 😅😅😅

The max road 5 is my favorite daily trainer right now!! It’s also my winter shoe and I feel Like the continental rubber is great and does its job really well 🙂🤘👍. I’m at 900km and it is still going. I will order another one soon. And I will half size down.

I have both, and to me they don’t feel the same at all. Max road 5 all the way for daily miles and long runs. The rocker in the max road is 👌. The Beacon, for me is a bit to firm and flat (no rocker)

@@brendalogan3784 I have the Max Road 4 and 4+ as well as the MR5. The 4+ is nice but the 5 is a far better iteration. Smoother, better upper, and the rocker is spot on. Worth the extra money to buy the 5 vs the 4+ (or 4) IMO.

Yeah look their awful shoes but I'll give them 4 1/2 stars lol... "Please send me more free shoes Skechers" Also an over pronator as bad as yourself can't review neutral running shoes, then to complain about its stability when its made for a "neutral" runner just doesn't make sense... Good job tho!
