Not asking for money (or help in general) must be a Scandinavian thing. I am Swedish and I understand exactely what you are thinking about donations. It has taken me two periods of sick-leave due to burn-out/stress to even begin to feel slightly comfortable askingen for help when I feel overwhelmed. So stupid - but I guess Scandinavian women are still culturally influenced to be strong Shieldmaids that can do it all by themselves? Anyway - do ask for help and money! We do not have to endure all hardships alone. I have a lot of your patterns in my favourites on Raverlry and now I have a perfect excuse to buy them.

It's all going to work out - I think buying property is always like this. You never know when you'll get the keys. I just went through this in 2022, and someday you'll look back and see it was a temporary bummer but the big reward of having your own place is going to make up for it!

Have you ever tried the Susanne Bryan way of measuring for sleeve length? She measures from your neck bone (the knobby bone at the base of your neck) over the elbow to the wrist. Then you always just divide your sweater width in half and the rest is the sleeve length you need. I find it a lot more accurate due to varying sweater ease. Also just bought your Selbu socks and Librarian Cardigan patterns because they’re gorgeous 😍 You’ll get through this. Just keep us updated and consider us your support group! 🤗

Eli-thinking of you often, knowing you are dealing with this uncertainty! Fingers crossed that you are in your new home soon! I hear you about not feeling comfortable asking for money; I also grew up in a family where asking for help, especially money, was considered wrong, low class, etc. I would argue that you are not actually ask for donations, but to be paid for your work producing podcasts. Doesn’t it feel different to put money in the hat if a musician playing on the street compared to giving to someone just holding their hand out? It does to me🙂. Oh dear Eli, that sounds so stressful! I am glad you have a community you can rely on... But having a reliable space to just be, is fundamental! I hope you will know when you can move to your new home soon. Even if you have to stay on sofa's for a bit before then, at least you will know when this episode of your life will end! I just bought some patterns from your Ravelry store. Even though one of my resolutions was to knit from my pattern stash I know your patterns are so easy to follow and even if it takes many years before I use them, they are worth it.

Have you looked into PODS for the move/storage? I googled and it is in UK as well as US. I think you are doing very well for the level of chaos. I think is Scan thing not asking for money, have been so embarrassed/ashamed when people have gifted me money it cleaned my colon for wks. I have loved that yoke so much , just not compatible with blurry vision, fatigue so best to love from afar. I wish you clarity.and a loo.

Re your living situation. Please don't associate your current situation with the time you spent in the hostel. I see an emotional connection being made, and it is not helpful to you. Your landlady is such an a**hole. I’m sorry you have to deal with all this stress. If she’s redoing the bathroom, no new tenants can live there - will they not let you keep your stuff there for a few weeks if need be? I will never understand UK conveyancing. It’s total madness.
