What's the benefit of putting the battery in the back? And could you sell it with only the back bumper mount (like you do with the front only)?

There's a great spot doing nothing in the rear, which is why the battery goes there. It's only a 200gram battery, so the truck doesn't feel the weight at all really. It's all one kit all one part, so no split parts will be sold.

Do you need to do any trimming on the front of the yellow body to get that bumper mounted? I've found that the frame rails seem a bit wide for the body's indent in the front but fit just fine in the back.

The chassis sits behind the body indent and works well, not IN the front indent, unlike the rear. Didn't have to trim any of the body, but we did put holes in the front and rear for the bumper round slides to fit in.

How do you plug in the battery when the esc is mounted near the motor on the front of the chassis?

Chris Rausch plug extensions are available at hobby retailers for only a few bucks.

No idea! Maybe though, but the SCX chassis isn't a direct fit for that jeep body anyway. Tons of other stuff has to happen to make that fit together.
