I say that because of other scenes like the main characters hiding while the KKK drove by. The scene where 4 or 5 police officers chase after a unarmed black man to kill him on the base ball field. And the scene of the church massacre. It's all politics. They do something, then use media to lie and create a narrative to hide their hand.

It had its moments, though was bit too blunt pointing into the direction of recent politics. The other Purge movies are way more intelligent to have the society criticism and the idea of such a social experiment well woven into the movie without being to blunt. The two seasons of the unfortunately discontinued amazon show especially good with that.
