I’ve been aboard the PlayStation train since the early 2000’s on PS2. I was among the first to get a (non scalper) PS5. So, safe to say: I really like PlayStation. That said, I have no intention of investing in a PS5 “Pro”. None at all. I think this new console might be attractive to some consumers who don’t already own a PS5, yet want to buy one soon. However, I just don’t see the “Pro” becoming a big seller among consumers who already own a PS5.

The seires x and ps5 currently dont have enough games that can truly take advantage of the supposed graphics they can support. JayTwoCents was able to do it for around $700 but he had to make some sacrifices. For example, he could only get 1TB of storage in the PC. Going for 2TB to match the PS5 Pro would have put him way over the price point.

I had a discussion with a clanmate and I was able shop around and was able to make a 1440p rig for about 820, but it sacrificed a lot or aesthetics for a better upgrade path. I personally probably am about to drop the same amount as the ps5 pro on just the case and cooling, because I know the product doesn't just look good, but also functions exactly how I want it to.

Jay of Jayz2Cents BASICALLY said if you follow the spec list, you will build something MORE powerful because if you match shader for shader and core for core the PC will win, but it will cost more. IF you build something for around $750-800 USD, you CAN have something similar performance wise. Jay put together something like NEW 12600k + 3060ti build and it would run very similar for a very similar price MOSTLY because you are taking advantage of things like DLSS, and the cost reduction of 12th gen and 30 series GPUs when building a PC. IF used is an option for building... then you could probably kick it's butt. Personally I have built ryzen 5000 series + high end used 3070/3080 for around the $800 mark, but that's used and VERY market/ region situational.

1,000 bucks gets you a prebuilt with keyboard mouse combo and a monitor to get you started. Yeah it's 200 more but you gotta think, the base console with the stand and disc drive is $810 USD, then 2 games is 160 and a year of ps plus is another $80. That's $1,050 right there on top of games not going on sale too often and the continues subscription over the years. It ads up quick. 1k on the pc and a couple discount games or bundles and you're coming out way ahead in the long run.

I’m definitely gonna buy it. My ps5 is as old as whenever they came out and I travel with it every week. So I’ll trade it in for this upgrade. I don’t use stand or disk so having the slightly smoother games is worth it. Especially since some of them give me a headache already.
