It’s amazing to me how no-one in these cities have discovered you yet, and decided to make you a national treasure, for advertising their cities. If I was the Lord Mayor of any city in Canada I’d be tripping over myself to have you and present you with the 🔑 to the city. The city’s honorable citizen.

I love seeing the places you visit and how you can teach us to sketch with ink and watercolor at the same time.

I could watch you all day! But then I would never get any drawing done myself LOL. I love the way you sketch and paint, and describe what you're doing for a newbie like me!

Love you and your style and presentation Becky thanks for sharing - I am not criticising but when the people in the foreground were still white with no watercolour I feel the composition had more impact just my opinion - please keep sharing your artistic and life journey

Becky, when you are free, can you show how to paint rice in a bowl, hard to paint color for rice sketching. I know this is not related. But wish to see your tutorial. Tqvvm ❤️

Hi Becky...I haven't used a fountain pen before...Could you give me an idea how long a converter would last before having to change them? Great job Becky..Keep up the good work!

I've been using my current converter for 12 months now and it still works fine. I don't think we need to change them for many years.

Becky, when you start your sketch, at first contact of pen to paper, do you begin from the middle of the landscape then expand to the left then complete the right side? In some of your videos, you started on the left then moved to the right. Honestly, when I try to sketch, there is so much in front of me that I am overwhelmed... I actually just give up before I can start.

It really depends on the landscape, every situation is different. Every time we sit down, we have a 360 degree view in front of us. It’s important to pick out objects in the foreground, middle ground, and background so you have layers of depth. Usually I like to start with a foreground object, for example, a lamp post, tree, or street sign, and these things look better on the left or right side of my composition. In this case, the foreground objects are the couple, and I felt that they look great in the middle, framing the cityscape above… most of the time I work from intuition. The more I sketch, the better I’m at it. There is no fixed rules about how to compose because every situation is different, and that’s what make sketching so much fun. Every sketch is like a new puzzle to solve. Before you try sketching cityscapes, you have to learn how to sketch singular objects first, like a box, a piece of fruit, a chair, etc. I spent years practicing these before attempting landscapes and cityscapes that always consist of a large combination of singular objects. We can only build a castle from the ground, not in the air. If you are interested in my online classes please reply below. :)

Do you conduct online classes? Would like to enroll

Yes, I've been teaching online classes for over a year now. This month, all my classes are pre-recorded. In September, I will go back to live-streaming classes again. You can check out my Ko-Fi shop for past Zoom class recordings : ko-fi.com/caobecky/shop It's good to start with Beginner's Drawing and Painting Unit 1 if you haven't taken art classes before: ko-fi.com/s/4302b74cfa Then proceed with Unit 2+3. It's important to build the fundamentals before trying a combination of things and urban sketching.
