i bought a travel sketchbook for a weekend event, ending up drawing two pigeons and the bus time screen. XD the unrealstic expectation was i would be drawing prize winning Clydesdale horses and the the awesome latest tractors and farm machinery. (this was scotland royal highland show) Truth is for a traveling you are mainly going to be....travelling!! i love that it took you two months to fill 48 (single side) pages, and it was enough. if you had told me how many pages Mr Chroma would need i would have said 200+ pages prior to this video. Thank you for this video, i hope you are now enjoying your own bed and space at home.

This was such a fun video to watch! I love seeing your sketches and paintings and then the videos of the same places. It’s cool to see things through your eyes and see your take on everything. When I travel, I usually write in a journal everyday and keep little items like tickets, business cards, etc. I take tons of photos, maybe do some very rough sketching and then I leave space for more drawings so that when I get home, I can go back through, clean up my sketches a little and paint more studies from the photos I took

Wow I need to travel just to make a sketchbook for it! Your art is absolutely gorgeous by the way! I can feel your interest in the things you sketch just by looking at them

I purchased a traveler's notebook for personal journaling a few years ago but I have been neglecting it for a while since I haven't been feeling it lately. Watching your process was really inspiring, and I think I'm going to use it more often and do some more studies outside. Since I have spare paper lying around, I think I'll make or bind my own insert so I can do more painting. Thanks for sharing!!

I just experienced this exact thing tonight while figure drawing in timed sessions. The day before my 30sec sketches were so stiff and forced. Today they looked so inviting, flowing and with curves and emotion. And it was just quick little lines. I notes the changes and made sure to critique and look back and give myself a personal sketch book tour. It was really eye opening and rewarding. Thank you for sharing your art and showing us how your skills are always always evolving and improving. 😊

It's so cool to see all the ideas that can come out when you go to a different place for awhile. I have a Midori sketchbook, but it is not part of the Midori Sketchbook System™, just a lonely book. Some of it seems kinda pricey (could be because it is imported) so I'd certainly be interested in finding out more about it, because the sketchbook itself has been great.
@afterimage19932 жыл бұрын
You should make a video on the different sketchbooks that you’ve used and the pros and cons of each.

I love that you put "non-sketch elements" (as what my old art professor would say) in your sketchbook! I do the same! I love incorporating them into sketches or even just sticking them onto a page next to a sketch I did:) I think it gives your pages more character and it's always fun to look back at that ticket or receipt from wherever you went because after all, they are essentially little souvenirs:,)

I have the habit to take my small sketchbook everywhere because I have a rather long commute, so of course it's in my bag when I travel too, but I rarely actually draw in it when I am on the go. And if I do most sketches are fast garbage sketches, that I can (maybe) salvage with some gouache paint later at home or in the holiday apartment. or they just stay garbage that reminds me of something cool I saw. haha Especially when travelling with other people, you can't expect them to patiently wait for you to finish a 2-3h breath-taking sketchbook spread. that's just not realistic. most of the time the patience is just enough for a 5-10 minutes. XD
