The inspiration from your first examples... Not just mechanical skill & style but conceits drawn from a full life - and remembering them, seems very worthwhile. i.e. not just an exercise in copying. I hope to emulate that in my own 'crayon' mode!

What I don't understand is how anyone can draw something they've seen that moves around - like people on a street or an animal. Because it takes TIME to draw something, but the scene changes from second to second, the wind blows, shadows change. Un-moving things I can see would be much easier; but I just want to know how they do it to just look at things and freeze it so they can draw it.

Hi. Then this is not an observational drawing but drawing from imagination, adjusted to the subject. If you are able, let's say, to draw different figures from your imagination, then it is possible to draw yet another figure but more or less similar to what you've seen in life few seconds ago.

You may be one of us that doesn't "see" images in their mind. It helps me to always draw from a picture. I carry my phone everywhere. Look up Aphantasia and see if it fits you.

Danny: May I make a wish for a future challenge? Maybe initially start with drawn examples with the prompt, but then each day have fewer examples until none? That at the end it is just a text word or phrase with no pictures to prompt? I have troubles not drawing the examples when they're given, even though I'd really like to do my own thing. It's so hard to unsee something -- at least for me, it is. Thanks for the challenges, in any way that you want to do them, Danny!

The thing is that I don't know how to draw. My best results are when I'm cheating. Here are my cheating instructions: 1. pick an image on a computer. 2. turn it to grayscale 3. copy it with pencils and eraser until it looks close enough.

Using a reference image is not cheating. If you put a vase on a table and sit diwn to draw that, you have a reference image I have a horrible time trying to draw from imagination.

@@recoveringsoul755 Feels like the cheating part is mostly in converting to grayscale and using a static image. Drawing "live" from an object is something I wish to improve.

@@batner there's one guy I was watching when I first started watching the art channels and he said he drew only in black and white for over a year before adding color. So you're doing great. At least you're drawing. I like how I feel when I draw but have trouble getting started There's other stuff I "should" be doing so I feel guilty if I do anything fun or rewarding Not sure who I think is judging me. Myself I suppose.. As a result I get nothing done

Cheat every day for a month. Then you’ll be sick of ‘cheating’ and will have the confidence to take off your training wheels. Whatever gets you started is all good. But my main recommendation is to work through my tutorials instead and you’ll never look back

honestly, follow Danny's how to draw tutorials! there are about 10 on his YT channel. they took me around 2 hours only - to finish all of them! and they really helped me see things differently!

If you go to the channel page for Sketchbook Skool, there should be tabs for Home, videos,.... The rightmost tab should be Community. The first prompt is cup. Hope this helps.
