This series is delightful, I'm happy to have found your channel. The animation looks great and the music is very fun, I'm looking forward to the finished product. Your closing asides are a nice dose of grounded positivity in a world sorely lacking such things. Thanks for being a genuine inspiration.

Why does my color ramp at 19:28 only reach half of the object? I can't make a gradient over the full length, only to the middle of the flame?

Thanks for the comment! I've actually thought about making a video about animating cameras. Not in immediate plans right now, but probably will happen at some point :)

Nice tutorial! When I animate my ship moving, the 2nd brighter and smaller jet stream(mentioned around 21:00) doesn't move with the engine. The volumetrics move but the middle flame doesn't. Any help is appreciated! edit: NVM fixed it by using generated instead of object coordinates. Thanks again for the tut!

Loving the tutorial so far but (you knew there was a "but" coming) I am having a big problem with the Array modifier. At the 5:50 mark in the video we are told to select "Object Offset" with the Empty as object to use. When I select that I get something very odd happening that is not at all what I see in the video. What I'm seeing is that each successive repeat of the original object is much bigger than the original. Number two is twice the size of the original and rotated and tilted flat. Number three is WAY bigger than number two, and so on. If I increase the count to 20 as shown in the video my screen is completely obscured by many huge overlapping copies of the original fan blade object. And yes, I made sure that the fan blade object and the Empty share the same Origin point. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here? I have spent hours trying to figure this out. I first had the problem with V3.0.1, then upgraded to V3.2, but still getting the same thing. Any help is appreciated.

You probably have the scale of the empty at 2 or something. The scale has to be 1 for the copies to be the same size.
@DouglasStory12 жыл бұрын
@@SketchesForHumanity Thank you for the speedy reply. But I figured it out: newbie mistake! I had manipulated the plane that formed the fan blade in object mode and forgot to Apply the changes. This occurred to me while I was taking a nap. :)

This is cool! If you want to replicate smoke for cycles use emission to volume in shader. I find it works better

excellent tutorial although I'm having issues with the resolution of the flame, even with the voxel amount at 256 it still looks low res and gets worse as I zoom out, any idea what this could be?
@vanpas Жыл бұрын
I had the same issue and managed to fix it by going to the Render Properties > Volumetrics > Tile Size and set it to 2px. I know your comment is a year old but I thought I'd share just in case you're still looking for an answer or someone else runs into the same problem!

For some unknown reason i dont see my Volume when im in Material Preview or Rendered Preview... I only see it when i am in Solid Mode. I have applied a material to it and all. But its not showing up. So far i only have a default material and obviously it is a Pricipled volume shader plugged in the Volume in Material Output. I am using Blender 3.0.0
@skillzorskillsson82282 жыл бұрын
I figured it out. I had to click Use Nodes in the Node Editor. I clicked Use Nodes already in the Material Side Panel but it was kinda strange because the use nodes buttons did not dissapear when i clicked on it. But it started using nodes when i clicked this button and i could create nodes in the node editor. But in the node editor the checkbox for use nodes was still disabled. So i just had to enable that

Yes, with regards to your Thought Tinkering, I always looked at it this way: If your current partner is "one in a million", that means there are 3700 or so one-in-a-millions still out there (assuming you are restricting yourself to half the world's 7.577 billion people). Like you said, it's not mean to be depressing, but liberating. Indeed, an opportunity to treat your current loved one with respect, and above all, Just. Be. Kind.
