Thank you for another wonderful video, Chikako! I've never actually brought a sketchbook to a museum, can you believe it? It's a great thing to do though - a wonderful way to spend a hot summer day... looking around and great stuff and sketching out some memories. When I lived in Illinois, I used to go to museums a lot more (in Chicago, mostly) - and I was always so fascinated with seeing everything that I never really stopped long enough to draw - but next time... yes. Along comes the sketchbook! Thanks for the inspiration! And best wishes on the move!

Hi Brian! It’s unbelievable that you’ve never brought a sketchbook to a museum yet! How have you managed to make so many amazing sketches without it? Haha. Oh, Chicago! Did you live there before? Visiting Chicago is actually on my future list for blues music. Fun fact: People at work used to call me “Chicago” because I introduced myself with that pronunciation!Chikako in Chicago! 😂 Thank you so much for your support as always. It’s a bit of a messy time right now, but I’ll do my best to keep making content ‼️💪

Hello Chi-Chan! Museum!!!!! I usually am not a fan of museums because they are always so dark inside :D and I am too lazy to read about the artifacts being displayed… never thought about sketching them, and now I know that’s something I can absolutely do! Thank you so much for the idea, the tips, and for sharing this. I’ll remember to bring a small sketchbook, and just a couple of pens and possibly a few mildliner markers. And you’re so right about people fearing what ‘others’ think about what they’re doing in public… like drawing, or writing/typing. Nobody cares :D they’re too distracted by their phones anyway. Good luck with your move, and I am sure you’ll share the process of you setting up your new studio in your new home.

Hi Alex! Haha, you know what, I usually skip reading and just observe the objects too👍 On the other hand, my husband likes reading, so I ask him to give me a summary later, lol. Thank you so much for the encouragement😊 I've decided to bring only two suitcases instead of using a moving company. so I'm selling and donating a bunch of things before moving. I'm a bit tired of the moving process, so I really hope to settle down for a while🦥 I will try to keep making videos meanwhile💪 See you later!!

@@ogawachikako Ah yesss... I skip reading, and my wife reads and tells me about what she reads later.... I may or may not listen to the whole thing :p So you're only packing a couple of suitcases and selling/donating your stuff? That sounds familiar. We donated a lot of stuff to schools and charity before moving back to Louisiana, but we also had a truck full of stuff following us back home too. Moving is very tiring, packing and unpacking is a lot of work. Setting up furniture and appliances is very taxing as well... a lot of sitting down, kneeling down, standing. We'll try to not move anymore, but we also get bored after living in the same place for more than 5 years. Sometimes I wish we can simply move with our home, like Howl's moving castle :D Anyway, take care and good luck with the move. See you in your next video tomorrow!

oh my gosh, i JUST visited a museum last weekend after about 5 years of not going to any😊 i didnt sketch anything there unfortunately! i just enjoyed the art with my partner, and i wanted to see the whole place!! i did take lots of pictures of things i thought were interesting, thanks for the reminder that i wanted to draw them 💘 mine was a small, very quiet local museum here in ontario, canada😊 we moved here two years ago but am still practising social distancing/masking for covid (please stay safe during this spike!!) so i am now slowly enjoying the things around me. i wonder what your favourite drawing pens are? thanks for sharing your tips, much love 💗

Oh, you visited a museum too?! How exciting! I also love taking a bunch of pictures and then drawing at home when I have more time🏠 At home, you can set up a better space for drawing, right? Are you living in Canada as well? I’m curious about life in Ontario-it must be a beautiful place! For sketching outside, I use Micron pens or Muji pens, and I also use a gray marker from Faber-Castell to add shadows. what about you? I’m always open to your recommendations too! Thanks for sharing your experience💖 I feel so supported when I read your message☺️✨

@@ogawachikako yeah i love having access to all my tools at home 😁 especially my watercolours! tho i do bring them out sometimes. yeah i moved to canada early 2020 just before everything went down 😅 i moved from the Netherlands myself!! ontario can definitely be stunning, but so can vancouver right? we got so many lakes here, i wish i could see them alllll. i miss the ocean tho, funny how that goes 😇 but i love where i live, my life is full of happiness oh I hadn't heard of muji pens before, thanks for letting me know 💖 the grey marker is pretty genius, i bet my alcohol markers would do the trick too! I'm currently using a pentel brush pen and a dollar store micro brush pen with my own inks in both (saving money and less plastic waste!). but i also love to use coloured ballpoint pens a lot in my doodles 😊 oh and i got some paint pens with brush nibs recently and been loving those too! but they're not good for detailed work in a museum🤔 thanks for chatting with me! i love supporting you 💘💌

Hi Chika! Drawing at a museum seems so fun! I have many notebooks, but I feel like I am “messing up” the pages because I cannot draw well by hand. 😅 I enjoyed seeing your sketchbook from the museum, and your tips were very helpful~

Hi Evie! あつい日がつづくね、げんき? I think there are so many inspirations to be found in the explanation parts of museum for coming up fiction's stories! I kind of like seeing the pages that are “messed up” in a way that only I can understand. It makes me feel more artsy instead of having perfectly aligned artworks in my sketchbooks💪 Thank you for your support as always! ✨See you soon!

Hi,Chikako!I really love your illustrations, and your story has truly inspired me. I've always dreamed of becoming an illustrator, but I don't have any formal drawing background. I wanted to ask for your advice on whether I should attend art classes to learn the basics of composition, sketching, and color theory. Thank you so much for sharing your journey !

Hi! Thank you so much for finding my small channel^^ It means a lot to me to hear that, and it made me so happy😊 I totally understand. I also don’t have an academic background. I keep taking courses on Domestika to learn the basics and apply them to my artwork but, in the end, your portfolio and connections are what matter most for getting a job. And little spoiler, but this week's video is "How to start illustration career" on Thursday. I hope it will give you some insights into what being a professional illustrator! You can do this, Let's go the path together💪!

moving and still putting out friendly videos?! leaving the city? Are you becoming a suburban artist? 🤔 The totem poles look like they have an incredibly interesting texture in real life. I was surprised to see them because we don't have many of them on the east coast. omg the little drawing of you in the corner 🥺 idk how the algorithm acts but it felt like a bit much to have an individual like and then a subscribe bit in the timeframe - or maybe it was the much more frequent jumps in lighting compared to normal - idk I'm looking forward to hearing about your new destinations!

Heeey! Thank you for always watching my videos😊 Oh, Are you living in Canada? Yes, I am moving to a suburban area to escape the ridiculously high house rent, haha 🏠💰 Thank you for mentioning the timing of the like and subscribe prompts. Since the video was short (around 6 minutes), the intervals might not have been ideal then. To be honest, I wasn't completely happy with this video because I rushed to finish it. I shouldn't make excuses though😞 This week's video is more focused on business tips for artists, so you might not enjoy it as much... 😅 I always appreciate your insights as a viewer! See you soon!

@@ogawachikako Your videos are very uplifting! ✨ Remember to be gentle with yourself! You might like the comic: "I woke up late today - My first instinct was to 'punish' myself - I need to do twice as much work today!!! - it didn't occur to me - That maybe I just needed the extra rest" I think I'll stay one country south of Canada. I know many people are considering moving even further south; but, I can't because I already get sunburned on the Canadian border haha. my preference for like, comment, subscribe, stuff is: 2/3rds of the way through the video and/or at the end - especially if under 8 minutes but whatever is fine if over 15 minutes lol - but idk how common those preferences are Business tips for artists oh no! How could that happen on the artist channel? 😂 I always appreciate your comment section! Thanks for making me feel seen!

@@thepostgradyear Oh, thank you for the recommendation. I visited last month and decided to dive in💪 I don’t know what it’s like, but I want calmer life than downtown Vancouver. I have heard that the sky is wide, and you can see lots of shooting stars⭐️ Haha, well, I got some comments from fellow illustrators to be a professional illustrator, so I made a video about it.
