Thanks Roia for another great informative video. I’m considering getting the Adventure Spec Bashplate for my CRF300L. Being aluminium (rather than other plastic alternatives), did you notice an increase in the engine noise when fitted to your bike?

Hi Adrian, Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the video! Thanks for the comment! I did not notice any increase in engine noise. *Maybe* slight more vibrations to the handlebar but I’m actually not 100% sure. My crf300l already had some vibrations before the skid plate, so it’s hard for me to conclude with certainty if the perceived feeling of higher vibrations are due to the skid plate. This vibration is only noticeable on highway stretches when I maintain the revs up for a prolonged period of time. When I’m off-road I couldn’t notice any additional vibration. On my last longer trip I hit the skid plate hard 2 times. I was glad to have the skid plate installed. I’ve seen the plastic skid plate from Acerbis, in theory they should contribute to less resonance/vibration, but obviously, due it’s material, it will never be as strong as metal/aluminium. My recommendation would be that you consider your type of riding. If you’re usually taking longer trips, far from home and help, go for metal/aluminium as the chances of breaking are very limited. If however you are mainly doing short trips around your home, then plastic is ok. At least in case the plastic skid plate breaks you can always take it easy and come back home safe.

Hi Roia, Thank you for your detailed reply to my question. It’s good to know you didn’t notice any increase in engine noise after fitting the AS Bashplate. 👍

Is that a leak on your engine?

No leaks. Where exactly? Which timestamp of the video?
