2025 Elan Ripstick 96 - SkiEssentials.com Ski Test Review

I got a pair of 96's to return to skiing after 10 years away. These skiis are superb, forgiving yet highly competent. I like to go fast and I haven't found a speed limit yet. Super responsive super fun. If you are an intermediate skiier with eyes on skiing black diamonds, trees and powder, these will get you there plenty quick and with a ton of fun on the way. P.S. I did buy a pair of ripstick 106 for powder days waiting for the next dump to try them.

how does it compare to the Faction Prodigy 1 when it comes to agility and soft/slushy snow on afternoons.

The Ripstick is a highly agile and mobile ski, I'd say it has more pep than the Prodigy, especially in firmer snow. When it gets softer, you may appreciate the smoother and sturdier feel of the Faction.

I’m torn between the Ripstick 88 or 96. Intermediate skier, 6’ 200lbs who skis on east coast groomers. Any advice on which width would be best??

I'd go on the 88 here. Even if you are straying from the groomers, it's a very versatile ski. I view the 96 as more of a 50/50 ski for on and off-trail activities.

Just thinking of going from 2016 2 ski quiver - Rossi Hero AT 170cm and Rossi Soul 7 (non HD) 188cm - to a one ski quiver. 5'8 and 195lbs, advanced level, not super aggressive and ski in Alps so similar to Vermont. Depending on who I'm skiing with spend probs 80% of time on groomers and some time off the side. The Ripstick seems to fit the bill so how would the 180/182 be size wise? Thanks

Great skis! I think the 182 will be great in the 2025 version. they're light and very mobile, leading to a lot of fun!

After ten years I returned to skiing on a new set of ripstick 96. These skis are superb, forgiving and highly competent while I work my way back up to black diamonds. I would absolutely recommend these skis. Ice, crud, on & off groomers, they let me ski better than I can, while I get back up to ability.

@@Jeffrey58Smithyeah I have a new set of Stokli stormrider 88 and they are awesome for carving down the black diamonds but I am getting the RS96 for playful ski on parks and glades
