Thanks for the review! The biggest size they have this ski in is 176. Would that work for someone like me, 6'2 and 185 lbs (188cm - 84kg). And how would it compare to the Deacon 72, size 178? I was first looking at the Deacon 72 size 173 because I like the shorter radius (15.4). Then I figured 173 might be too short for my body size so I considered the Deacon 72 size 178, but then I would give up a bit on the shorter radius. My challenge is that I want a not too racy carve ski with a shorter radius to improve my carving skills and enjoying the shorter turns. But I end up mostly with ski's that are either too short for my body size or have a too large radius to my likings. Therefore the Q7 you reviewed in this video seems like a potential fit, although 176 might be a bit short for my body? Any other alternatives I should consider? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I generally think if you're concerned that skis will be too short, you are correct. The Deacon makes more sense in two ways. First, it's a bit longer, but second, it's a sturdier build. The Q7 isn't as damp or stable as the Deacon, and especially at higher speeds. You still get the shorter arc, but it's more capable and smooth at higher velocities. I'd also check out the Rossignol Forza 70 in the 181.

Thanx for the introduction. What would you say which ski is more fatiguing: Head Supershape e-rally (156cm) or Q7 (152cm)?

I would say the Rally is more fatiguing than the Q7.

How would you compare these skis with Kastle MX 75 ?
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
MX is more of a narrow all-mountain ski while the Redster is based much more off a race ski. This gives the Kastle the leg up when it comes to versatility while still carving very clean turns. Q7 is more married to the on-piste scenarios, so if you spend most of your time there, go with the Atomic.

How would you compare the Q7 to a Head supershape e-magnum?
@SkiEssentials5 күн бұрын
The Magnum feels like a more substantial ski with a sturdier wood core and more metal. The Q7 is a bit lighter and more agile but still holds up well to higher speeds. Magnum is very composed in shorter slalom turns with total confidence.

Are these torsionally stiff enough for aggressive carving?
@SkiEssentials28 күн бұрын
The Q9 is better for aggressive carving, but for most general carving, the Q7 will be more than enough.

Would you recommend me (184 80 kg, 22y old) 168 cm or 176 cm ski? I tried Q7.8 in 173 with felt perfect length for a carving ski but I wasn’t sure about the 84 mm underfoot and that’s why I considere the Q7. My current qst 92 is 177 cm and that makes me wonder which size I should go?Any other differences between the Q7 and Q7.8 than sizes that I should now when considering buy?

If you have the 92, I think the narrower one at 75 makes more sense than the 84. This opens up your differences in skis quite nicely. I wouldn't change length, though, as the 173 is going to work great in the 7 as well.

Thanks for the review. Looking for a piste ski to add to the quiver that offers good carving and speed capabilities. Don't want an all out race machine as want something with a bit of forgiveness. So if you are skiing with the family its not going to catch you out or be too tiring. Ski must also be happy charging through the crud at the end of the day. Was considering this or the Q7.8 or Declivity 82ti. Any recommendations.

It seems like the 82Ti makes more sense as it's a great carver but it also has a lot of versatility. You're not getting that well-roundedness from the Redster.

Not comparable! Volkl is a pro-ski, Atomic Q7 is for beginners. Just look at the constant slip in the demonstration. No tailrocker and too light. No value for money. For the same price or cheaper you will have the pro-ski of Volkl! This is my own experience with both types of skis.

While not a race ski, there is a high level of performance that is attainable here. Surely both Volkl and Atomic make higher-end carvers than the Q7, but the point of this one is that it's accessible for a lot of skiers who spend most of their time on groomers.

How would you compare it to the völkl deavon 84?
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
The Deacon feels more powerful and smooth while the Redster has a bit more kick out of the tail. I like the versatility of the Deacon as well, with longer rocker in both tips and tails while the Atomic is a fully-cambered ski that really prefers to be on edge all the time.
