Skill Builder corded 240 didn’t know they did cordless as I mainly fit bathrooms as a timed served plumber mafell probably is over the top but I will be doing more kitchens and sheet material and for the extra thought why not I paid £599 for the full kit, saw, box, x2 rails, joining bar, x2 clamps and blade

Nice review guys I’ve got this and a few other mafell saws amazing kit. have to say tho rodge you were touching the material when you stated the saw and you were right on the edge no wonder you got a nasty kick back ! Should always start the saw before plunging and go slow and steady to start. I’ve never needed a second handle on this saw always works fine for me without it but that’s personal preference. Can’t wait to see your next vid guys!

I am a carpenter from germany (its much more distinct from other wood workers here) ive never seen a carpenter without mafell tools. and i can attest that all of the tools mafell is developing and selling are top notch and build to last. ofcourse they are on the heavier side but thats what you get for making heavy duty machines. the only thing i myself broke on mafell saws were the cable... not paying attention and somehow cutting them or i yanked them so hard that they came lose over the years. we dont use the plunge saw (ive bought one myself tho) but the KSS 55 / 85 on the job site and every bigger saw is in the shop. noone showed me how to adjust the base plate so it will be 90° to the saw blade because we never had to do it. i didnt even know it was a thing until i realized all the cheaper saws (pretty much every other saw on the market) doesnt use the style of rods to ascend the saw up and down. I am a very firm believer that you will buy a mafell product once and then pass on to the next generation and they could use them without issues in 20 years+ its obvious why they recently had their 125th anniversary.

Just got mine delivered yesterday, I'm sold on the Mafell quality. I also have the P1cc and DDF40. I haven't had the chance to put it through it's paces but I'm looking forward to it. Like Festool, the tool documentation is atrocious. I turn to these videos to really learn how to use it.

Just like you, I love the Mafell quality. In addition to the MT55cc, P1cc and DDF40, I have the UVA 115 E orbital sander. I may look like an ordinary sander, but it is really good. I once used it to sand the wall wood panels of a room in my home. I needed to remove much wood. I sanded for about 10 hours. This machine makes very little vibration. When I was done, I inspected the floor. I expected to see dust. But the floor was absolutely dust free. It would have been easy to spot any dust, because the floor is painted in dark red color. I used the Mafell vacuum unit, and the Abranet abrasive strips. I am very happy with this Mafell sander, and all my other Mafell tools.

I have this saw in 110v. Very satisfied. But has anyone noticed ALL tracksaws are built _backwards?_ All of them... which of course means I'm the odd duck. If the blade were _on the left_ you could walk the length of your rip with your elbow at your side as God intended... and your left hand could easily support the off-fall. With the blade _on the right,_ you have to walk cross-armed the whole way and your left hand is idle. Guess I could learn to cut Lefty. 14:49 Just look how this experienced tradesman has no choice but to start from behind the workpiece and walk around to the rip-side with his right arm fully extended across his body... and walk that way for the whole rip. Watch him crane his head _over his shoulder_ to watch the cut! How _awkward_ is that??? Now imagine the blade _on the left,_ how easy it would be to start from the opposite end of the workpiece! Contolling the saw would be sooo much more natural and easier! Yes, I'm the _odd duck_ here. But _even if it means_ every big tool company is wrong... I am right.

I've got the ts55 - had it about 5yrs. With regards to cut quality I've recently switched to keyblades and Fixings' blades. Personally I think it's been a great improvement for my saw - admittedly I've not tried other saws, but they also cater for most blade sizes too. Have a look on Instagram on their page. 👍

Check out Timberwolf tools. They are the US distributor and I have been very pleased with their service. I have the P1cc and DDF40. The MT55 is in my immediate future as soon as I can sell my TS55.

How did you find the weirdness that the saw only has one handle please, it misses out the top handle that is 90 degrees to the cut and that is found on most if not all competitors? My missus is a bit concerned about that missing handle if / when she uses the saw, if I buy one... Thanks

I have a Mafell jigsaw which I love. However, my Festool tracksaw has given me years of faithful service and just goes on and on. This has clearly got a few things about it which would benefit from but how can I justify it? I am just trying to work out who the market is aimed at?

Does the mafell base overhang the rail edge "motor side" could be an issue with mft park guide system.i know the equivalent bosch does.

It does but the answer to that is to spread out the parf dogs to be wider than the workpiece so the saw cuts between them.

The saw kicked because the blade was in contact with the workpeice before starting. Any saw will kick if you do that. Operator error.

16:56 - Okay... why did you set it up for a left-hander? Just flip the whole thing around (or put it on the other side of the "table") and you can push it at twice that speed with your right hand, without having to reach across, without tripping on the tube and without banging your balls into the sawhorse. :-P

Wow, I thought it was just me who noticed this! All tracksaws are built for Lefties! Would feel much more natural and have greater control & safety if the blade were on the left. 14:56 - Just watch him crane his head over his shoulder to watch the cut!

@@Golgafrinchamdent yes'there are a few circular saws, not tracksaws that are left blade which also makes it much easier to see the cut line. Don't know why the manufacturers don't build them that way since the majority of us are right handed.

@@hhanger1 Yes it seems pretty bass-ackward to me. The left bladed circ saws are all smaller blades too (except the worm drives). Kreg just released a Left-bladed track saw. Cross-cut & Cut-off saws should be right blade... and track-saws which are designed for ripping should be Left blade.

hello, the system which create small margin between first cut and full depth cut doesn't exist, it's a legend !! the small button you turn it's just a small piece of plastic with a screw in the center, it's only a stop button, there's no mechanism in the saw really nothing !!!

Just got the Makita sp6000 corded. Couldn't resist the cheap deal I saw. Let's hope it's not buy cheap, buy twice. Base seems a little more lightweight than the Festool.

Have had my Makita for 5-6 years now. Great value for money IMO. And definitely not a cheap option. Obviously might not have quite the so called finesse and reputation like Festool but it does exactly the same and with the added benefit of a scribe cut function as on the Mafell which the Festool doesn't. If it's your first plunge saw. Don't try to plunge the blade while it's trying to get up to speed, and don't plunge blade too fast, it will kick back especially in thick worktop material, either chipboard or solid wood. Don't think you need to worry at all.

The Festool is a great machine and hasn't broken in my experience of it. But will give the Makita a chance. But if it doesn't cut plumb and straight I'll be annoyed

@@adamandlorraine it should do straight out of the box. There are plenty adjustments to bring it in to line if it's not cutting to your liking. It will definitely feel different to the Festool if you've had that for two years. But it works on the same principle. A good blade and you should be fine. Which is actually my only gripe, the price of blades. Makita is bad enough let alone a Festool one.

I think this saw ticks most of the boxes, but the lack of a second (front) handle really puts me off the Mafell. It was the only saw in the selection that they tested that didn't have one. It's really strange why Mafell have omitted this, given that it's a safety feature.

Have owned and used a tsr55 for the past 7 years, more often then not i find myself when not using clamps putting my left thumb on the track ( opposit side to the blade or if cutting a bevel on the base of the saw, very rare i reach for the front handle

Clearly ahead of the TS55 on a number of counts but: captive lead (no Plug-It) and, apparently, cut line on 45 deg cut moves away from splinter guard. I suppose the scoring cut feature may compensate for the latter point. Very entertaining and informative review.

I've cut one inch hardwood with this saw and i went through like it was butter. It's a pricey saw, but worth the money.

I ripped a 10-degree angle on a solid mahogany 1.75" door. Like butter. Definitely worth the money. Oh and did it in-doors with a dust vac. No dust in the room. None.

Ian Glazebrook you're right and if you want use saw blade with fine kerf on Festool TS 55 you must have another flange (lock washer) that tightens, I made mine.

Is it just me being a lefty? But it looks really awkward for a right handed person to use a plunge saw. I always feel that the blade is in the ideal position when I use my one. I know for safety it's not wise to be standing blade side but it feels comfortable to me, but right handed users always seem to be over reaching, especially cutting wide sheet material. Ive noticed it more watching this series of videos.

What am I missing here? You both look all sorts bent out of the shape while cutting, I definitely do not want to spend a days work performing acrobatics over the track and saw. It seems the minimum width of cut piece acrobatcless way would be the width of track(by setting it on camera side of the table)? Or walk backwards, which could work in the shop but not on site. All pics I found online seem to be showing this orientation, which I find very strange, that saw is not worth much if one has to work like that. Yes practise left hand, which for me could be an option but I wonder how many people would be willing to do that. The other option, work on the floor, ok for short term but no thanks been there done that. So what am I missing here, please enlighten me ? thanks

1mm is 40 thou. Therefore 1/10 mm is 4 thou inches. Metal workers would be happy with at on a large job.

Like mafell tools, realy delicate precise tools. But that cuprex motor is marketing bullshit. Couple years ago when i heard it first time, i'm start to looking for it 'cause i'm like to know its a special engineerd motor like the dual field motor or its "just a motor". But i need to say its just a regular electric motor. The superior power came from two ingredient. First, it has a full wawe electronic, so the saw are able to run at full speed under load. Second, 1400w is a massive overkill, for 55m cutting capicity and combined with the full wawe electronic able to deliver a massive overload capibilities. Why 1400w is an overkill ? 1400-1600w motor are used in regular circsaws, wath are able to cut 68mm deep in a single pass without strugguling.

I heard they use more powerful magnets and wrap their copper tighter, purer copper etc. I don't know if it's true or not. Basically yes it's a standard design motor but built better and from better materials was the theory I was told. could be marketing bs though.

@@chezcotton Its could be true, but its not change the power output i think. Its still a motor what rated for 1400w. The different magnets & windigs structure are good for reduce the size of the motor, so they can reach the required power/ watts from a smaller factor. But i said earlier its just my opinion, and for me mafell is still an outstanding manufacture with amazing tools on their lineup.

Why would 1400W be an overkill? If you're cutting some harder materials it will help maintaining the blade's speed resulting in a cleaner cut.

@@1255XL I know. And always good when you have some reserve/spare power for the toughest job as you mentioned earlier. With the overkill, i just like to say/describe 1400w is more than enough most of the time at 55mm cutting capacity. As i said earlier 1400-1600w circ saws able to cut most of the materials at 66mm with ease. Its depends the saw blade as well. And its definetely not enough in hardwood at 66mm. All in all i just like to say with that "overkill" sentense the cutting preformance is not came from the cuprex motor its came from the raw power 'cause that amount of power can handel deeper cutting as well.

Like most things in life you get used to them but it is a bit of a pain trying to pack the tool into the box because the boxes are made for 2 pin plugs that are similar to the American style. A further development is that many tools are now supplied with a two pin plug, like the American ones, and an adapter to our 3 pin.

I'm a filmmaker so I need to ask: is it a rule on these YoutUbe videos the dumbest person in the room is deemed camera operator? When people are explaining something, shoot what they are explaining, not them. We know who is speaking, shoot what they are speaking about .......... and if you are presenting something, present it so the camera sees it and go slow so the operator can keep up. This is just common sense...................one might think, guess not.
