I used Skillshare many years ago. Specifically to find character design lessons and how to draw videos. I went to a video from Picolo, a great comic artist and I honestly don't feel like I learned a lot. Maybe something with warming up but honestly I found more for free from Marc Brunet and Ethan Becker. Marc Brunet is honestly the GOAT of teaching art on KZbin rn.
@DeadKraken Жыл бұрын
Bruh, Picolo is not a character designer nor a concept artist, he got famous by drawing fanart of Teen Titans, of course he wouldn't have anything interesting to say regarding character design even if he was good at teaching, which he's not lol Marc Brunet and Ethan are great, you can also look up Tyler Edlin, Sinix Design, Marco Bucci, Proko, Bobby Chu and Trent Kaniuga here, and anything available from Devin Elle Kurtz(excellent teacher), there are many more of course that will appear in your suggested vids and teach things for free. Never pay for an unqualified noob when you can have veterans of the market giving you free lessons.

learning requires effort on your side to begin with, if you want to learn a skill you can't just mindlessly watch stuff and hope it absorbs. I have no intention of defending their business practices but there are still good courses on there if you bother looking into it a bit. The issue with a lot of youtube guides is that while they're useful and informative they were not planned as a whole course and lack that structure. You need to be critical of what courses you pick and actually gauge the expertise of the person you're taking courses from.

I’ve learnt something important about KZbinr sponsorships: 80% are shit products or scams, 19.8% have yet to prove themselves and 0.2% didn’t even need to sponsor to convince anyone. In other words, never trust a KZbin sponsorship (unfortunately)

this is the same story as with raycons: if they have enough money to get youtubers to shill them everywhere, then said money is probably going to advertising more than the product itself

Are RayCon earbuds actually good or are they shady/a scam? Because I've thought about buying them. 🤔

Pyro is a bit dim isn't he not understanding the messed up free trial thing. I've never had a company charge me at 14 days on a 30 days trial then take months to refund. He's nit picky on editing considering his own editing is just embarrassing 🙃

My personal experience with skillshare was actually quite positive. Me and a friend used it for a few month splitting the cost to learn how to draw. we did use youtube and yes a topic like drawing/illustration does have many quality tutorials here, but we just found how the courses were done along with a focus on assignments and not just "how to" videos made a world of difference. Skill share does have a lot of garbage, but I also wouldn't discount it either. both me and my friend did 2 free trails before splitting 1 month so the cost really wasn't anything
@celestialceilagor3802 Жыл бұрын
You could learn this easily without paying too much, all it costs is a pencil a piece of paper and some time
@Ilint Жыл бұрын
@@celestialceilagor3802 I paid like 12$ for the whole thing. Also doing something without direction isn’t efficient. We both already had experience and like I said KZbin was great, I just happen to find better stuff on skillshare for said topic. You’re basically saying get a ball and shoot some hoops and you’ll be ready for the NBA, no it doesn’t work like that.

Skillshare has like a 15 euro video tutorial where a guy just uses greemscreen and calls it vfx.

every products i use is always the one not promoted heavily in ads. so many industries and companies just put more effort on ads and marketing than the product their selling.

I think skillshare is kinda like the lootcrate subscriptions, sometimes there is good, even awesome stuff, but most of the time it's a waste of money and you'd be better looking for the thing you actually want on your own. I think the person making the video really exaggerated his argument just for the sake of content, which I can respect; but man they need to step up their sound effect game, cause it ain't it right now
@Cappyey Жыл бұрын
I don't feel like the points in the video were exaggerated whatsoever, the platform just generally sucks, youtube is way more varied and has some of the absolute best videos in the world, any small creator can just start teaching anything and make way more money than on skillshare. It's not really a lootcrate if it's guaranteed that you're gonna get a worse version of a youtube tutorial. But I absolutely agree that the sound effects are trash.

The only problem I have with this video is that no one has pointed out that Skillshare is competing with these larger media outlets like youtube. Competition is NECESSARY for the improvement of the products of both companies. The companies will compete to get more users, and whoever has the better product will get more users and thus, profit. We need Skillshare to compete with YT if YT is going to improve. Even Linus from LTT pointed out on a WAN show episode that the problem with KZbin and google is that when the company gets so big that no other company can compete, then attention moves away from how they can improve their product to: how can we squeeze every possible penny out of every person that buys our product (profit). In conclusion, even if you don't like Skillshare, we need it for competition.

Plus, there are so many logical fallacies in the "Logically Answered" argument. Just saying that more people/more content is uploaded to youtube and that is why it is better is a bandwagon fallacy. Definition from Wikipedia: "In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum is a fallacious argument which is based on claiming a truth or affirming something is good because the majority thinks so." -- Just because the majority can use youtube to upload videos, doesn't make it any better than other platforms.
