Every time I watch your videos, I'm impressed by how immensely talented you are. I'd love to see you shred our trails here in midcoast Maine.

I agree, he's one of the most underrated riders on KZbin. Extremely talented.

Here for the hardtail action. Also perked up when I saw La Marche, I would put one of his frames on my shortlist of forever bikes. Thanks for sharing

Whoa... two of my bike worlds colliding! Tom and the street/fixie scene is definitely niche, niche, niche. Nice!

I live smack dab in the middle of all these places in vermont. Grew up in keene on the drummer hill trails (25-30) years ago. When they were just from one place to another. Recently got back into biking and am looking forward to a jump back to a mtb from a gravel bike. I'm poor and old, so I'm ordering a colossus n9

Very entertaining video, Phil. Thank you. I only wished that Hayley had taken some clips of you making some of those jumps as it seems she had opportunity to do so. POV is okay, but side shots are much better :-)
@SkillsWithPhil3 күн бұрын
Hailey is free to do her own thing, i never except her to film my every action but i do appreciate when she does snap a shot. That being said, we've filmed all the features before and you can find those clips on instagram and the Phil's World videos that documented the building process.

Also... ADAPTIVE RIDEING TRAILS FTW!!!! More of this in all bike parks and trail networks!!!
@SkillsWithPhil3 күн бұрын
One of the coolest things I experienced this summer was hearing that 6 adaptive riders made it through the section at 2:26 without any assistance! When we built the trail that was one section that was questionable on an adaptive bike. It would go, but with assistance, so we came back in the middle of summer to reconfigure the rocks so that they would be able to navigate it without assistance. Building trails to be adaptive adds a little complication during the build process but that makes for a fun puzzle.

Hey Phil, random question. I know you ride vesper hubs, which blue matches the Diety components blue better from Onyx?

How is your knees and wrists at the end of these rides? I always wondered. I’m getting up there now and mine hurt like a son of a gun.
@SkillsWithPhil3 күн бұрын
I think one thing that's overlooked is that I ride very smooth and avoid harsh impacts as much as possible. I might do big features, but I try to do them with as much precision as possible. Though, there's a time to ride with more reckless abandon, but that happens much less frequently.

Maybe you want to help us at Catamount, we have act 250 trail plan submitted and hope to convert to free to ride trails, but still sell membership to people who want to support the trails like RMT sort of does with VMBA membership?
@SkillsWithPhil14 сағат бұрын
That actually sounds interesting ive only ridden the slalom course once. I know it's popular for XC racing, but I've personally have spent very little time there and have thought it could be a really cool spot given its central location.

Even Phil isn’t riding his silly features
@SkillsWithPhil3 күн бұрын
If you ride all the a-lines or ride all the b-line the trail feels completely different. The A-lines is a stop and go BC style trail, where riding B-lines has more of a Downhill race track feel. I mix and match depending on my mood.
@thebackyardsender3 күн бұрын
@ unfortunately I’m only able to ride the b-lines on skid marks, it’s really humbling seeing it all in real life, the gap trail is fun tho

Traveling abroad with a bike is a pita. The terrain looks great, but if I'm going to travel outside NA to ride it'd definitely to ride in the UK or in the Alps, but to be honest the terrain I really want to ride is all in BC and I've barely scratched the surface.
@robertgarrett77853 күн бұрын
must be filming in wrong speed its really blurry when going fast on trail it doesnt do that with anyone else
@SkillsWithPhil3 күн бұрын
These are the same settings i always use. Leaves + high speeds are action cameras kryptonite. Even at 4k theres not enough bit rate to capture all the details. So if you are watching this at in anything less than 4k the video may look extra pixelated. Even the difference from what i see on my computer before exporting what you see on KZbin is already super degraded and there's nothing i can do about that. KZbin has terabytes of video uploaded every second and they need to store that in the smallest size file possible to make it reasonably cost effective for them to operate as a business.
