Dr, Dray, without sounding overly dramatic, your videos have completely changed my skin care routine and the makeup I buy. Since I have switched to the Cerave moisturizing face cleanser, my skin has NEVER looked better. I actually use less skin care products now that I have learned what really works. At 56, my skin looks better than it did in my early 40's. Thank you SO MUCH!!
@Patti-19625 жыл бұрын
@Yuki M. I buy almost all of my skin care products from The Ordinary. I have three routines, one for vitamin C, one for acids, and one for retinols. For washing my face, if I am wearing makeup, I start with Ponds cold cream (with cucumber) to remove as much makeup as possible. Then I go in with a micellar water. I like the plain one from Garnier or from Simple. Then I wash my face with the Cerave moisturizing face wash. (It does not lather up and feels very creamy, but it DOES WORK!) This is the night time routine, which I follow with the Granactive Retinoid Emulsion 2%. I let this sink in for 20 minutes, then pat on some Hyaluronic Acid. After that is completely soaked in, I add an incredibly affordable face moisturizer from Amazon called Nuva Skin Retinol Intense Moisturizer for face and eye area. You can find it here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F2QGPHV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For my moring routine, I just swipe a cotton pad with micellar water on my face. For the vitamin C routine, I use the Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% (if I am not wearing makeup that day, I will add some vitamin C powder to make it stronger, the 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder. I let this sink in, add some Hyaluronic acid, then apply the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (The Ordinary). It is a light day cream. If my eyes are puffy, I will use the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, just one drop under each eye. I always moisturize AFTER this product has dried. My other morning routine is for acids. I will start out with micellar water, then use the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. After letting that dry, I apply the Lactic Acid 10% + HA, then a few drops of Hyaluronic acid, then the day moisturizer. I also use a product with SPF in it, I am still looking for the right product for me. If my under eyes are dry, I will apply a few dots of my nighttime moisturizer. The product that I believe makes the biggest difference for me is the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution mask. I have worked up to using this twice a week! It makes my skin so bright and even toned. I have tried adding oils and other products like Argireline, Matrixyl and an antioxidant. But I don't feel like they made that much of a difference. Plus, using too many products causes them to pill up on my face. I'm sorry this is so long, I didn't know how else to tell you everything I do. I have been using The Ordinary products for about 1 1/2 years, and my skin is so clear and wrinkle free and now I only need some concealer under my eyes, powder and mascara. I am retired, so I don't wear a full face of makeup very often. I also have "babied" my skin since I turned 30, not going in the sun and using heavy duty sunscreen if did. I also did not have acne as a teenager and have very normal skin, neither dry or oily. Until I turned 50, I was slightly oily in my t-zone area. I will turn 57 next year! P.S. I also only use drugstore makeup. I have 4 grandchildren and would rather spend my money on them or traveling with my husband😊💕

Thank you for that information. Consumer New Zealand has also just found a few more sunscreens that do not give the SPF stated on the product. Sometimes this is due to batch inconsistency or improper storage. These sunscreens are from all over the world. That being said I still use a sunscreen with zinc oxide everyday and hope for the best! Dr dray do you ever see patients who don’t have severe acne, just mild, and who try the standard treatments (adapalene, tretinoin, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, aczone, etc etc etc) and comply with those treatments but still do not have clear skin? I would say I’ve seen improvement in my skin but it’s not completely clear. I still get acne on my lower cheeks. It’s not very bad but I just wish it would go away especially since I comply with my prescribed treatment. Is it unrealistic to expect my skin to improve anymore/ will I always have to deal with acne? I’m also on birth control so there’s not much else I could try. Are there some people who can never clear their skin completely? If so why is this? Maybe you could do a video on why people might not respond to treatments that seem to work so well for most others.

If the acne is on your lower cheeks try not using your phone for a while and see what happens. Use one of those silly ear thingies or anti-bac it every time, and your hands. I don’t use my phone much, but every time I do I get contact dermatitis unless I am wiping it down constantly. As I'm fairly good about washing my hands, I can’t see why it should cause such a problem, but it does.

The shine factor was a major barrier to my initial use of sunscreen. I have combo skin, and without mattifying products, my forehead and nose look like oil slicks. Given that so many of these sunscreen empties have a greasy appearance, I’d highly suggest to anyone watching to give the Tizo 2 and/or 3 a try. Yes, they’re expensive, but they’re also water resistant for 80 mins and go on matte. The only difference in them is that the 2 is non-tinted and the 3 has a tint. I have fair skin and so I mix the two to get the right colour for me.

I spilled Resveratrol from TO once, i didn’t drop it but i forgot to close the bottle and left it on the edge of the table, then caught on it with my night robe. Luckily it was the bottle, so only half of it spilled, and the product was not too expensive. Jar packaging has one big advantage over tubes, bottles etc. The product is easily accessible to scoop it out, even when there is little left.

Hi Dr. Dray, I really have so much to thank you for.! For an example, I love your concern for all segments of your viewing audience. I’m from your very budget minded group. I desire to do well by my skin, however, it can be confusing navigating varies blogs and skincare sites. I appreciate your desire for simplicity which usually transfers into less dollars for skincare. I’m also VERY grateful that you are a no -nonsense consumer yourself and recommend those products for various price points, as well. I do have a question, I recently purchased the Japanese oil cleanser. And I’m doing well thus far. I’ve only have been using it short term at this point. I saw from a recent video that you switched to Mineral Oil which made sense for simplicity sake and being dollars savy . I tried a baby oil (I couldn’t find pure Mineral at that moment) and my initial impression was that the baby oil which had only mineral and fragrance was more difficult to remove than the Japanese oil. Could that be the case or is my initial impression incorrect? Thanks for your time. I know you must get a lot of questions . With your busyness in mind, I just listened to your lifestyle video today and truly you amaze. You do these videos, take the time to edit them with links, etc. You read, You color....and make all your meals...plus fit in a daily exercise schedule just to name a few that I could quickly recall. WOW girl! Keep up the good work...leading the way.

I bought a few cosrx things while I was in Korea. Iherb and dermstore’s pricing are pretty good FYI. The PHA cream was like 22Korean won, which is like $21USD and the pimple patches for around $3. If you do a lot of bulk orders on iherb, you can pretend the $4-5 more that you pay is shipping and handling :) etude House was having a hugeeeee sale on a soon jung gift set, but otherwise, the US pricing isnt necessarily doubled that of their korean counterparts.

Great video - thanks, Dr. Dray! I switched to CeraVe and EltaMD because of your recommendations early this year, and haven’t looked back. I do want to try the Colorscience 3-in-1 Eye product, but I’ll have to save up. Thanks for the great content in 2018!

Yay, I really enjoy your empties videos. I've been using Altruist and I absolutely love it. I still found it quite affordable, even having it shipped from Amazon UK to Canada. Merry Christmas!

I have been using Dr. Sam’s Flawless Moisturizer. It is not moisturizing enough if I do not layer it with Hada Labo Gel Cream.

I have acne prone skin and I do love the Allie sunscreen. The alcohol smell fades quickly and it never irritate my sensitive skin. there’s a waxy feeling as dr dray described, but that waxy feeling makes it a great makeup base. It goes really well under makeup, I have tried another hada labo uv cream dr dray previously recommended, it’s great day time moisturiser and sunscreen, but it doesn’t always go well with foundations.

Thanks for this video! When do you use the PHA moisturizer? Morning or night? Does it conflict with your retinoic acid treatment/irritate? Is it occlusive enough without putting on another moisturizer? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi Dr Dray! :) I have a question: are hair products that contain salicylic acid "safe" to use for long hair? :/ If salicylic acid dissolves the "glue" between dead skin cells in skin care products, could it also damage the hair somehow?

Happy Christmas Eve!!!!!!! How do you feel about unrefined shea butter? it's supposed to be rich in vitamins E, A, and F. The "green" community loves it but I was curious to know your thoughts. Hope you're enjoying the holidays!

I really like the Canmake Mermaid UV Gel and the Skin Aqua UV Moisture Gel as far as Japanese, alcohol free, and 50 SPF sunscreens. I use the Mommy Uv Gel SPF 30 for my 4 year old, he has really sensitive skin and has reacted to other sunscreens but does great with that one and I’ve actually used it fine too. The Nivea Sun Protect Water Gel (Japanese) is also incredible too and absorbs insanely quick but does have a little alcohol though I don’t notice and am dry and normally really sensitive. The Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil is a great cheap product. Melts off makeup and sunscreen and is thick enough for gentle massaging. My holy grail is the Botanic Farm Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbert tho! Feels so so nice. The Cosrx PHA was super drying on me weirdly enough even tho it felt rich! I really love the A’pieu Glycolic Acid Cream though with 3 % AHA and birch juice, it’s so moisturizing. Great video ♥️
