It doesn't depends if the band is heavy metal or not - Skinny Puppy are the legends, Rabies and VIVIsectVI are the masterpieces of industrial music

Who on earth would think they are ''heavy metal.''

Never really been a fan of industrial metal but great tier list and will probably check out a couple of the tunes here. Thanks for the hard work!

Skinny Puppy aren't really "metal" aside from Rabies & The Process - their earliest albums actually have a bunch of 80s synthpop/new wave DNA in them, so maybe try those if that's closer to your speed!

The Process is honestly one of favourite albums from Skinny puppy, they pulled off the industrial metal vibe insanely well.

@@MetalTrenchesJudging by the view count, I could understand why and it's pretty depressing since they're mostly known for Worlock, Assimilate and even Testure (I would count Dig It as well because of Trent Reznor's mention of the song for Down in It as an influence). I just wish more of their songs would be on everyone's radar, for example Smothered Hope, Addiction, Spasmolytic etc.

I was really looking forward to becoming music album reviewer but it’s really hard now that there’s like one and a half million songs from like 15,000 songwriters that are unavailable in the US on KZbin from the sesac Agreement expiration deal being unresolved which I hope that changes. Excellent job on reviewing the albums and thanks for inspiring me to want to review music myself. Have a wonderful day.

Makes sense you'd be higher on Rabies than the majority given your background, though i think that album's had a reevaluation over time. i'm one of those people whose single all-time favorite album is Last Rights, so you can imagine me booing there. =P As seemingly the internet's biggest Mythmaker defender, i was pleasantly surprised you didn't stick that in the bottom tier - and completely agree with your bottom-tier pick! My other main galaxy-brain take is preferring Remission & Bites over their first couple albums with Dwayne, though again i wasn't surprised you ranked those where you did. Finally, the best song from VIVIsectVI is Hospital Waste and i will die on this hill~

Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Velvet Acid Christ, :wumpscut:, KMFDM, and other bands especially from Metropolis Records, are really defined 90s post-NIИ industrial genre culture, who rock Johnny The Homicidal Maniac to the fullest.

Great video Metal Trenches, absolutely love Skinny Puppy. Skinny Puppy is so bad ass that the U.S. military blared their music for like 12 hours straight to torture Guantanamo prisoners. I really like Last Rights, but I can see why some people might be put off by it. Half of it feels like they're trying to write their most accessible songs while the other half feels like a throwback to the OG primal industrial sound of bands like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and Einstürzende Neubauten. I think you get more out of it if you treat it more like a fucked up ambient album rather than something that you're gonna dance to.

Dear Metal Trenches, I asked this on the Facebook page and your assistant answered, IDK if he told you, however. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the amazing album Panopticon next month, would you be willing to consider reviewing Isis the band? (named after the Egyptian goddess of magic and wisdom rather than the extremist group) They are truly one of the most divine, magical metal bands that embodies depth, atmosphere, teamwork within their instrumentals, and the balance between chaos and order and the tendency to go back and forth between the two. It would really mean a lot to many of us. Thank you
